    IAAPA 2025

Not long until that smell of freshly laid carpet is wafting up our noses and our eyes witness silky sheets being majestically whipped off coaster trains. The gasps! The laughs! Coverage starts tomorrow around 10am Orlando time on the usual CF social media channels. Here’s the press schedule...

Have you ever self-spited yourself out of a roller coaster?

First trip to Heide Park, I sat out the SLC (Limit, as it was called then) because, similar to what Howie said above, it's something I didn't fancy riding. I also thought it would give me an extra cred when I next returned. I didn't bother on my second, and last, visit either!

    New attractions at Paultons Park

The area near the old log flume/water park/play area/Sky Swinger is the only bit of the park that noticeably still has the old infrastructure (ie: the blue sheds). They added a play area to Tornado Springs and one will be part of Valgard, so my guess is that area will be earmarked for...

    New attractions at Paultons Park

Been giving this some more thought and Drakon’s stall needs more attention. How brave is it for a park aimed at families with young kids, that has never flipped riders before, to sustain such upsidedowness. I wonder if Chessington’s decision to invert inspired them to go one step further.

    New attractions at Paultons Park

This was asked. It’s regarding their core target market and what’s appropriate for them. They don’t want upset to upset young kids. There’s also evaluation and safety reasons. Anyway! A great day. Ghostly Manor looks brilliant. It wouldn’t seem out of place in somewhere like Hansa. The queue...

Which non-Blackpool seaside park in the UK is your favourite?

Depends how it's evaluated. I started writing with eth four Matt put in his poll, then went off on one...so excuse the tangents. Value for money, probably say Adventure Island. AI has a good amount of fairly enjoyable and quirky attractions, with enough to keep me entertained for most of the...

Parques Reunidos reviewing whether to sell/merge U.S parks

I like this. I was thinking last week how great it was when the Cedar Fair and Six Flags rivalry was at its peak. Since the merger last year, the thought of a monopoly was a bit boring….unless blowing up Kingda Ka was Cedar Fair’s last spiteful middle finger from TTD! Maybe some of that ‘old...

Support UK Theme Parks this year...

It goes without saying that those who consider themselves "influencers" should use their platform to promote and encourage. I hate the term "influencer", but I'm proud that CF plays a part in this as a "reporter" with park visits, Lives and attending events and press invites. There's a also a...

Oakwood closes its doors, cites financial difficulties

Really weird feelings about this news. I think Oakwood has been a strong contender for closure for a while, but part of me thought it’s captive market on ten far side of Wales, alongside the reputation of Megafobia and nostalgia would’ve keep it bobbing along. My last visit was about 8-10 years...

Six Flags Great Adventure | Unknown | Unknown Kingda Ka replacement | 2026+

Fantastic footage. Talk about going out in style. Fitting.

Which UK theme park do you feel is left most at risk by the potential of Universal entering the UK?

I came here to post this. Universal will attract new people to the hobby, and encourage goons from wider afield to visit for theme park trips. It could also encourage competition with others parks heavily investing. The top ranked and visited parks have nothing to worry about. That’s the dream...

    IAAPA Expo 2024

It’s unlikely. The first day is usually running around to the reveals and covering the bigger stuff on the floor. IAAPA does a Show Daily newsletter that’s typically available on their website the morning after each day. It might be covered in that or on the IAAPA socials.

    IAAPA Expo 2024

Gutted not to be there this year. Love a good sheet pulling reveal. Although looks a bit underwhelming from what I’ve seen so far…but I’m only telling myself that to feel better.

    Paultons and the New Forest

This is like AI has written something just for me! I’ve lived in southern Hampshire all my life, visiting Paultons frequently since it opened in the early 80s. I now live on the edge of the New Forest, and I’m lucky enough to have explored it throughly on cycle and though my work on the...
