Walibi Belgium | Loup-Garou RMC conversion | 2028

here is a better look of the layout, which seems to include an arie force one style dive loop after the first drop

So there we have it, Festival World has been announced.

As we have been expecting for a while now, this area of the park will be transformed to a Mardi Gras/New Orleans themed zone. This new coaster is the first phases of the transformation, with other rides and extra theming happening in 2030. RMC Loup Garou will open early 2028, with the current woodie closing at the end of the current season.

It looks to have only one inversion, right after the 89° drop. Reminds me of the Raven Turn on Arieforce One. Other than that it seems to be an airtime machine, with possibly more airtime moments than Kondaa. I'm excited😃

I do think it's a little bit of a curious decision. I know a lot of enthusiasts have been clamouring for it, but amongst the general public, Loup Garou remains popular judging by queue lengths (unlike Vampire and Cobra where the public have voted with their feet). Perhaps it needed expensive maintenance making this relatively cost effective? In any event exciting news.

Walibi Belgium Press Release
"The first step in this project: the transformation of Loup-Garou into a new hybrid roller coaster developed in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), an American manufacturer known for its spectacular transformations of wooden coasters.

The 2026 season will be the last for Werewolf in its current form. Work will begin in January 2027, with an opening planned for 2028 .

This new attraction will reach a height of 49 meters , a top speed of 106 km/h , and a track length of 1,231 meters —a record for the Benelux region. It will also feature a 47-meter drop with an 89° incline and three unique elements. Designed with the ambition of ranking among the best roller coasters in the world , it confirms Walibi Belgium's commitment to offering world-class experiences."

"In 2030 , Festival World will be complemented by a second phase of development including the retheming of several existing attractions, new food outlets, a themed main restaurant, family drop towers and a water playground."

Honestly, looks like one the best expansions for Walibi Belgium! That new RMC is gonna fit the line-up perfectly! Just like Untamed did in Holland!

They have also announced three never-before-seen elements for the ride, however these are not really visible in the concept art for me. So it is possible that the concept art is only a rough sketch and that these 3 elements among other elements could include some inversions. (I think atleast)

It certainly looks like an impressive scale of RMC conversion given Loup Garou isn’t exactly a massive woodie if I recall correctly. 160ft is not small!

I’m also quite sure it will be an excellent coaster that will enhance Walibi Belgium’s lineup even further; it’ll certainly complement Kondaa nicely as another headliner!

One thing I do find curious about the RMC conversions, which this appears to continue, is that as time has gone on, they seem to have morphed more into “new coasters that happen to use bits of the old support structure” and hardly resemble their predecessors at all (e.g. Iron Gwazi, Wildcat’s Revenge), whereas older ones seemed much closer to their predecessors in layout, footprint and scale and almost predominantly used the old support structures.

I think we're looking a little too much into the concept art here? It very much seems to be a "here is a general idea of what the ride will look like" thing, especially considering the unbanked track & intersecting sections.

I wouldn't look into it beyond the basic aspects until we get an official rendering.

Hyped for this and glad it's happening! The woodie was "fun" but far from good. I'll never say no to an RMC Iron Horse.

We'll for sure learn more details about the layout/elements. Those turnarounds are way too simple/unbanked to actually be it. Generally dig the layout here, love to see lots of airtime. Love those series of three airtime hills complementing each other.

Up until now I still thought, while this was the nicer park, Holland had the better lineup of coasters. This will put Belgium over for sure though. This and Kondadddy will be an elite duo.

Now take the wrecking ball to the SLC!!

Yes, yes and thrice, YES!
Stoked for this. I know lots of people were predicting this, and lots more were quietly  hoping for this, but to hear an official announcement has totally made my week. 😁 I don't think anyone predicted that they'd go quite this big though, did you?
The Raptors are great n'all, but it's been a hot minute since we last had a large, full-blown hybrid conversion to look forward to. A short hop across the English Channel too, bonus!
And if my boy, Joe Draves, is in charge of design, you just know it will have a killer layout. Likes his ejector airtime, does our Joe. 😊

What a decade Walibi Belgium has had, just a string of outstanding investments one after the other - Pulsar, Tiki Waka, Popcorn's Revenge, Kondaa ffs, Mecalodon & Dockworld, and now this. I mean, like... wow! Fair play to 'em.

I have slightly mixed feelings about this.

I'm in the camp of being who enjoy Loup-Garou. In it's older age it certainly could have done with some TLC / a retrack, but it didn't  need the RMC treatment. It slotted into the park's line up nicely too.

At the same time, an RMC conversion - especially one that seems focused on airtime - is nothing to be sniffed at. It will no doubt improve the overall quality of the park's line up, and be one of the best received coasters in Europe.

So yeah, excited, but a bit disappointed to see Loup-Garou go.

We all knew this was coming...but damn, this is looking so good! Who thought the park was going to look like this 15 years ago.

By the way, I don't think the coaster in the picture is the actual layout. When they presented the concept-art for Kondaa in 2017, it was just to illustrate that a megacoaster would open in 2021. The actual layout was revealed at the IAAPA in 2018.

Also nice to know that Walibi Belgium and Aqualibi had a record attendance in 2025 of 1.800.000 (1.300.000 for Walibi, 500.000 for Aqualibi). With the new additions for 2028, they hope a growth to 1.500.000 for Walibi Belgium.

I have just read the Looping article and seen we are also losing the 4d Cinema. I do get it, a lot of the seats didn't work or didn't work well so something needed doing. I don't normally feel I'm negative about developments and I'm glad everyone else is excited. But in summary:

Net new roller coasters = 0
New new rides= 0
Net indoor rides much needed in drizzly Brussels= -1
Time to fix knackered carousel assuming they do= 3.5 years
Time to retheme children's ride in desperate need of theming that should have been done years ago= 3.5 years

Pluses: the retracked roller coaster sounds great and hopefully the theming will be good.

Negatives: not actually an expansion, not exactly quick for the whole area and losing an indoor ride.

Not bad @matthissa! Pacing is so hard to judge on RMCs, and what I expect to be greatest determiner on if this coaster will be good or great; promising start and layout with plenty of airtime opportunity!
