It sounds horribly generic to me but I suppose that's the case for many USA park names .

It makes sense in a way as it harks back to the original park name of Six Flags Over Mid America. Although I do wonder why did SF decide to change this name - was it too generic?

Why did no one at any stage of the decision process think “wait.. isn’t Mid slang?”

Mid-America is definitely a throw back - the park's original title was Six Flags Over Mid-America. Enchanted Parks continues their drum beat of taking the new park acquisitions "down to their roots".

But call it what it is, the title has 8 syllables. Oofta.

On the Six Flags beat - I've been finally researching what pass I need to get for Six Flags next year: Gold or Prestige. The "regions" of Six Flags parks are comedic since the EPR sale - I'm in the Midwest region which consists of Ohio (Cedar Point, Kings Island), Illinois (Great America), and... New York (Darien Lake) . Canada's Wonderland is also in the Midwest region, but requires the Prestige pass (how convenient). The EPR sale definitely took a lot of Midwest portfolio out of the mix.

Yeah this is the general sentiment that I've seen online so far, but my question is:

Does a name with SIX FLAGS not sound generic and corporate? Sooo many people online I've seen call the new name corporate sounding. Is "Six Flags St. Louis" not possibly the most corporate sounding name for the park possible, it's Six Flags, the US' biggest corpo park chain plus just the location, not even something more creative like Fiesta Texas.

I think those people have just gotten used to the name Six Flags St. Louis and thus can't recognize it as corpo sounding, but the only way it could've been more corporate was if the park was called like "Six Flags Experiences on Meramec" or something.

That aside, will the city of Eureka now be changing the name of Six Flags road to something else

It oddly brings to mind the now closed American Adventure in Derbyshire for me, even though I was only a toddler when it closed and never went…

I don’t particularly like it, but I can’t think of anything else that would be an awful lot better…

Given that its coaster portfolio is very mid, I for one appreciate EPR's honesty. Maybe someday when they've moved AF1 there, they'll be able to call it Great American Adventure. The new logo isn't even mid but straight up trash though:


I suppose that they'll slowly go for 'Adventure' for all of their parks since Michigan's Adventure already fits and they've now added Mid America Adventure to the mix. What will Worlds of Fun be called? Worlds of Adventure?

I grew up in Louisville, KY, and remember calling it Mid-America. St. Louis is the gateway to the Midwest, Mid-America always made more sense than St. Louis because it's not in the city.

It's a regional park with a name connected to the region. Their target audience isn't associating the name with Gen-Z slang.
