Fully agree. Virtual Queues work at places like Disney Parks because they have many high capacity rides and shows running all day. The parks are also mostly flat so walking to the other side of the park to do something else isn't a big issue. They also have transport rides you can go on to kill...
Fair enough. For me I would never ever go to Fantasy Island if it wasn't for the 2 big coasters and of course the Pyramid. Everything else just is totally unappealing to me. But yeah Fantasy Island has always had a certain feel and clientele so I suppose it works for them. Fair rides at a...
I think one big issue to overcome is that I presume the Staveley Estate still owns the land. I dont know exactly how those contracts work but I would guess it makes these operators hesitant to invest massive amounts into the place permanently in case it doesnt work and they end up having to pull...
I guess i'd say having your rides open is just a bare minimum thing and not really "incredible" in any way. To me it just looks like the same park as it has been for 20+ years just with better operations. Of course thats important but it doesnt really impress me.
The public don't know where...
How is what they've done "Incredible"? For a start their headliner attractions are still the ones built 20+ years ago.
Most of the park is the same as it's been for donkeys years. They rotate different fair rides in and out because Mellors run lots of fair rides.
Lightwater Valley have...
I think we a business they probably should have just built a more off the shelf ride, sure, but it's possible it still ended up more cost effective, the ultimate did essentially just sit on the ground, only the lifts actually had proper foundations, that must have saved a lot.
I don't think...
Would be good to have a decent waterpark in the vicinity since Waterworld in York got demolished a long time ago. I'm skeptical though since these things are notorious for being closed because of running costs.
This project is just... So Flamingo Land
Edit: Someone commented that the boat clips the door on the way down, it does - the rear wheels clip the door on the right hand side of the video. Lol!
Yeah I had a feeling it was this sort of setup. Robert is very old now and i'd guess his younger family can't/don't want to take over it - might make it complicated for a potential buyer I imagine.
Part of me just sees the whole thing being redeveloped into a big housing project of some kind...
Not really - these things have solutions. It doesn't get permanent installations because the park has been in decline since the late 90's!
I also don't think the solution is more hired in fair rides. The whole place needs a lot of investment; but Flamingo Land has always been the thorn in LWV's...
I only heard about this yesterday, but I grasp from the dodgy translations (maybe a German can come and clarify)... it seems that they have a long list of issues. The main ones being:
- The restraints aren't designed to hold short people/kids properly. The minimum height was going to have to be...
Id be gutted if they removed Grand National and it would make me consider not really coming much anymore.
Unless it was a case of removing it all, keeping the lovely station and replacing the coaster with another Möbius loop coaster. Or if they did it the same way Twisted colossus was done...
I think marketing comes into this - some parks have realized they can get a decent impact from just branding or themeing something in the right way, and cut costs on the ride hardware. So there's less of a push for something groundbreaking.
Yeah... it does seem to be going downhill. Although i've heard from locals that the park can be fairly busy these days.
So maybe they're just stripping it back more and more to see what the bare minimum is.
Depressing though when you think back to what the park once was and how much is just...
