At least half of Blackpool's woodies are fine. There's nothing wrong with Blue Flyer or Nickelodeon Streak, and Big Dipper seems to have been on pretty good form in recent years.
Grand National, on the other hand, desperately needs a re-track, and possibly new trains to bring back some of the...
In terms of proper parks, Oakwood. In terms of bonus extras, Coney Beach, Barry Island and Weston-super-mare for a selection of +1s, awesome spinny flat rides, and a variety of ghost trains. Fun times.
I'm afraid I'm going to be the indecisive one, and state that it's too close to call. Or perhaps more accurately, as I've only visited each park twice, that I've not had enough rides to really call it.
Troy can absolutely deliver better rides than Wodan under the right circumstances, as it did...
It looks like both park and Vekoma have absolutely nailed this. As a solid, fun, family friendly coaster, this looks amazing. I've always liked Tripsdrill, but this looks like a substantial improvement for an already great park, and I'm really looking forward to my next visit there, whenever it...
This is awesome news. It's taken a while, but this is a huge step forward for the park.
Since Cú Chulainn opened, Tayto really felt like a park with a single stand-out attraction, then a massive gulf, then a load of filler attractions. It looks like they've been working on trying to raise the...
I'm sure that's true. I've only flown with EasyJet once, and I remember having a decent experience with their flight, but so far I've yet to fly with them a second time. That's not a reflection on the company, but down to most non-Ryanair budget airlines not flying the routes I want to travel...
I'm fine with a budget airline, although they do sometimes make the experience of flying with them more of a pain in the ass than it needs to be. If you only look at the cost of the flight, then they can be an absolute bargain; I've flown Stansted to Gothenburg, followed by Stockholm Skavsta to...
The one that comes to mind for me is the transfer track from the now removed Curse of Darkastle dark ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
The turntable transfer tracks might not look like much, but they're located mid way through the ride, and were designed to operate whilst the ride was still...
The difference being that B&M elements aren't designed to have negative G forces. They're designed to be around 0g, i.e. the elements are designed to be forceless. The excitement when a ride passes through these elements therefore stems from how the human body reacts to the absence of normal...
Things I'd like to see more of:
Fun attractions. It sounds obvious, but far too many parks are obsessed with gimmicks, and style over substance. I don't care if your ride is a top tier enthusiast thriller, or something smaller and aimed at families, it had better not be bland or forgettable...
Once they've got all of the themeing and landscaping done around the area, I'm sure it'll look far better and make a lot more sense. This is Tripsdrill that we're talking about - they tend not to do this stuff by half measures.
Oh and that zero G roll over the glass station roof? That's utter...
I'm actually in shock now that I've seen the scale of the new area, and how far out it is from the rest of the park. I expected everything to be really compact and crammed in against everything else, not out on its own like that. I have to wonder what else they'll try to squeeze in over there.
Honestly, I don't expect it'll be too much of an issue once you're inside the park. The coasters will be really obvious from the car park, but once you step inside, they're round by the drop towers, so you'll have to make your way up the highly themed entrance "street", amongst the buildings...
Even though the vests don't have a one-way locking system any more, they're still sprung loaded, and press down to take away all space between you and the restraint. They may have solved the comfort problem, and there are rides where I don't really mind them, but they completely ruin dive...
It's so typically Merlin that I can't even muster an eye roll at this point. Take an IP, because they can't have marketing have to actually work to drum up interest, and then... well I was going to say half-ass the implementation, but that would imply that at least some effort was put into this...
Doh, I hope it's not the Gullivers ride that's been relocated, as I already have that cred. I need to go back at some point for that dodgy Pinfari looper, and really can't justify travelling all that way to that dump just for a measly +1.
Should I hand in my goon card now?
