Yeah they're forcing people to lock up phones before they get to the station.
The ones being super positive are the paid Dollywood press and local Pigeon Forge influencers, who are a different audience than roller coaster media. A lot of others not on a media list haven't been kind.
From what...
So Motocoaster may not be as dead as we'd thought.
Park posted a very out-of-context teaser of prospectors/explorers with the caption "We thought we'd seen it all";

Motocoaster is still standing, they've stripped a lot of hardware from it and since...
So, owners retired, and ZDT's closed last Fall. Beginning in November 2024 they and Gravity Group launched an effort to find a buyer for Switchback. Odds weren't good since the price to capacity vs used hardware ratio was not great.
The good news is that the owners announced today that...
Star Mountain at Beto Carrero World will officially be retired after four decades of operation. The Vekoma Corkscrew with Bayerncurve began running in 1980 and arrived at the park in 1994, officials have made the call that it's reached the end of its service life. A new themed area will reuse...
Details were slim on the coaster, asides from the elevator lifts taking riders up 45 feet in four seconds. Again I think the actual coaster will still go slightly taller. There was a bit of animated footage published of the station as well;

Lightwater Valley has gone and listed their Spin Bug, Elephants, and Kangaroo's rides for sale, all available after September 14. The former has only been there for two seasons now, having replaced Eagle's Claw.

Community convinced themselves that a Stryker was coming. Two years ago you could already see the writing on the wall. Thunderation is a very crucial attraction in SDC's lineup and it's been deteriorating. You just bet this thing is going to get ridership, too. I have no tears for anyone...
Construction as of last Friday. It be footer mania both on top of and below the plateau;

Actually just while I was writing this up they shared photos of the lead car at Vekoma's factory. The coaster will be great, and Vekoma has made a ton of awesome overly themed trains in the last...
Something something survey markers

A couple of these aren't very close to the coaster. Makes you wonder if the new thing is going to have a drastically expanded footprint. There's alot of backstage parking lot they can straddle overtop of.
The M shaped structures have begun going up for the Loading Room, where elevator lifts will fly out lift riders right out of the station;

Funnily enough these aren't going to take riders up to peak height, it'll go uphill a tad before riders reach the main layout.
We will presumably...
Still at Vekoma. No track in Texas yet.
Some permits were filed the other day for the station, queue, tunnel, and electrical buildings valued at $5.5 million. Work is slated to begin on August 24 and wrap up in April;

So…
Construction has reached a pretty solid point where we know of and have a clear visual of the footers on top.

I kinda really want to be wrong here, since this is Gröna Lund we’re talking about, but these do not look like enough footers for two coasters. Just the Vilda Musen...
Brian Knoebel told an ACE event the other day that John Arie Jr and RMC keep calling up the park superimposing the coaster onto their property. Knoebels keeps laughing them off, they have no intention of taking this ride.
God bless them they're trying.
Visited Fun Spot for the first and last time ever tonight. Park is appalling but AF1 is fun and doesn’t belong here. Layout is great fast fun asides from the final airtime hills, which are just painful. Also ran into @ECG : )
On Wednesday they trademarked THE SCREAMIN' DELTA DEMON, which was an Intamin Bobsled that ran at Opryland USA from 1984 to 1997. Among the Goods & Services is that all-important "amusement park ride" class, which means they want this to be a new coaster.
Probably the theme park equivalent of...
