    It's Coming Home (Euro 2020)

I thought this exact same thing! The commentator last night kept saying it and I was like...this is why the world hates us, y'know? It's been very interesting 'actively' watching football again for the first time in forever these past few weeks as it's so clear to me how much has changed? We've...

    Tulleys Farm Shocktoberfest

Might I suggest pairing it with Chessington's Howl'O'Ween? They won Best Scare Maze for Creepy Caves Unearthed last year and for good cause. Plus the park is fab that time of year regardless so might as well!

Would the theme park industry be different if Disney had gotten their hands on the Harry Potter IP instead of Universal?

But this again is not what I'm saying, and I think you're misunderstanding my point. I never said the Internet is the reason the films are successful. I said the Internet was responsible for perpetuating the fandom. Which it is. And with my points around the MCU and things again I'm talking...

Can immersive ever become too immersive? Do we need to draw a line somewhere?

Plug plug plug I wrote a whole blog post about this recently: https://www.cupcakesandcoasters.com/2021/05/the-problem-with-immersion-and-lost-art.html And my thoughts are yes, I find that sometimes in an attempt to achieve full immersion parks can shoot themselves in the foot in other aspects...

Would the theme park industry be different if Disney had gotten their hands on the Harry Potter IP instead of Universal?

I'm not saying the Potter films were hugely influential because of the Internet, I'm saying the fandom and ensuing mania persisted and grew into levels never seen before because of the Internet and the way fans were able to connect like never before. I think it's naive to look at box office...

    Tulleys Farm Shocktoberfest

Did Tulley Shocktoberfest write this? 🧐 In all seriousness, yes I think so. I see no reason why not! And I for one can't wait. Bring on Halloween please.

Would the theme park industry be different if Disney had gotten their hands on the Harry Potter IP instead of Universal?

I often wonder about this, and what the actual impact of it is. Is my experience heightened because I can't buy a Coke in Wizarding World? I quite enjoyed Disney's take on the 'alien' Coke and Sprite bottles - to me that feels more immersive than no Coke at all. I have a bit of beef when it...

Would the theme park industry be different if Disney had gotten their hands on the Harry Potter IP instead of Universal?

I disagree - there's a hugely differentiating factor with Potter vs. Star Wars: the internet. The Potter films came at a time when fans all over the world could connect and feed one another's fandom like no other franchise before it. Star Wars was huge of course, but nothing like Potter with the...

Would the theme park industry be different if Disney had gotten their hands on the Harry Potter IP instead of Universal?

I think it's a case of for Disney, Potter was a big fish in an even bigger pond whereas for Universal comparatively Potter was a big fish in a smaller pond. Universal knew this was the horse to bet on and were willing to do everything they could to make sure it succeeded. I think had Disney got...

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

Pricing-wise that place is stupidly reasonable for a wedding venue, I feel like if enough of us clubbed together we could figure something out!

The World of David Walliams is coming to Alton Towers

I thought the same about the fart jokes. And the use of smells. Kids will love it though and I get I'm not the target audience so it's fine but yh, I was really grossed out in the end!

    Milestones in Your Counts

So I need 7 creds for my next milestone (1100). Given the....situation...I've decided I'm going to really scrape the UK barrel in an attempt to get it. Here's my plan: Coney Beach, Porthcawl - +1 Funland at the Tropicana - +3 New Brighton Funfair - +2 Clacton Pier - +1 Should be a bleak...

    YAY Merlin!

It's certainly riding like a brand new coaster this year! I've been very impressed on the couple of visits I've had so far.

Somehow Even Worse Than Expected - Oakwood - 05/08/2021

Oakwood's issues far transcend anything happening because of COVID. I last went in....2018 I think? And it was a terrible day out then. Time before that was 2014 I believe and it was terrible then too. I'm in awe they can even still operate to be honest!

Somehow Even Worse Than Expected - Oakwood - 05/08/2021

Hate to say I told you so but, urgh, I told you so. It's a very bleak state of affairs, even down to the 'new' coaster being down. I don't really know what they're playing at and can't even begin to try and understand what's going on there, but I am glad you followed my advice and brought a...

What coaster manufacturer would you solely rely on for the rollercoasters in your dream park?

I've gone for Vekoma, based on the following: They're tried and tested in the family market and have loads of reliable yet unique and fun options from Junior Boomerangs, to Mine Trains, to SFCs. They're not adverse to innovating - Disney often work with them pushing their design limits to...

    CoasterForce COVID-19 Vaccination Poll

Pfully Pfaccinated with Pfizer. First dose fine, second dose brutal arm pain that subsided in a day or two. Also means I can brave the coastal parks without intense fear of infection which is great news for my cred count. Huzah!

Weird, Wacky & Strange Coaster Bits

Excellent. I've been obsessed with these forever - love that they're so brutal one must wear a crash helmet. Outstanding stuff.
