I love how if this park does go ahead - despite being 60 miles further north it'll be easier to get to from Brighton (or anywhere on the Thameslink Bedford > Brighton line) than Thorpe Park. Just one train all the way up. Whereas Thorpe for me as an epileptic who has been asked not to drive, is...
Spa areas cost an arm and a leg and then another arm and another leg to keep running. Spas in general started dropping like flies during the whole energy crisis last year.
Probably a cost cutting thing. Spas are notoriously expensive to run and maintain. Things like these are closing left, right and centre at the moment. I absolutely love a spa and visit them regulalrly, but I didn't even know towers had one! It's just not something I'd wanna do there.
One of my closest friends lives in Marston M and I visit regularly. It definitely already has that "weird kind of desolate town situated right next to an airport" vibe locked down, so it's the perfect location for a major park like this!
The trouble is - the park itself is still very much going to look like the old logo.
Painting half of Colossus and "re-themeing" Angry Birds Land to New Orleans (but it's still going to be Angry Birds colours because we had a few tins of the paint left!) isn't going to fix the parks tired...
It was definitely time for a new logo, I hadn't actually realised just how outdated the infinity logo looked until they presented us with... this. Conceptually, I think this most certainly is a downgrade though. It's just so painfully basic.
I actually found Wicker Man more uncomfortable than The Smiler. That thing beat me up, whereas with The Smiler I'm always so dizzy and happy I can barely remember who or where I am. It's a really great coaster that has the most appropriate name and themeing ever. I also think it's the best...
My two nominations are Dragon's Fury and Nemesis Inferno. Both of these coasters running on a hot day are beautiful, chaotic fun. During one visit to Chessington (I wanna say in 2013) Fury was running so fast that the on ride camera was missing the cars going by. The park was quite dead so we...
Whilst we're talking queues, I'd just like to say how happy I am that dedicated accessible entrances/queues seem to be becoming more and more standard at theme parks. I won't miss having to awkwardly make my way up exit paths. Every third idiot shouting "you're going the wrong way!" or just...
That name is awful lol, smacks of "boardroom brainstorm" sesh by a coven of corporate Karens. So what's new?
Whatever though, honestly, it's just exciting (and a little surreal after so long) that Thorpe is actually getting a new coaster. Screw the name, screw the theme, screw the short...
11 years between Alton Towers visits, 2011-2022.
This year was my first trip to Chessington since 2013, and it'll also be the last until their next major coaster/investment. I was shocked how run down the park feels and how incredibly half arsed the "World of Jumanji" is.
I haven't been to...
I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything new in the thrill department at BPP. Their last thrill ride was an Air Race, over a decade ago. It really feels like they're doing the literal bare minimum to keep the big rides going until they die and can also replace them with family rides. The...
Finally made it to Margate yesterday. Dreamland is a great, quirky little place. I love the shabby chic vibe of the decor. I couldn't stay long as I was with family + dog so they were at a café on the beach while I hobbled in, got on the Scenic Railway, walked around admiring the place a little...
I think I must have read too many "don't worry, it looks a lot better in person. Very immersive hun! Coaster is surprisingly fabulous!" posts because I was underwhelmed by all of it. Then you've got an almost 20 year old Dragon's Fury right next door putting a brand new B&M to shame in the...
You know those sad middle aged men that congregate in ASDA car parks of a weekend revving around in their neon coloured sooped up cars? Even they'd look at this paint job and say "nah mate, bit tacky that!".
What were they thinking?!
The new mobile RAP system in place at Chessington is... interesting.
As a disabled person with crab claw hands, I don't exactly love standing around with my phone in hand or using it on the move/in crowded spaces. Not uncommon for me to throw the thing on the floor for no apparent reason. That...
I've never found Colossus to be that rough, my problem has always been the lack of legroom in the trains. My legs always cramp up by the time we hit the brake run, which is absolutely no fun. Especially when the ops are having one of their slower days and you're sat there waiting for a minute or...
Rode this last year and was actually pleasantly surprised. It was just pre-summer holidays so nice weather but most rides walk on/minimal wait. Odyssey absolutely hauled around the layout with minimal head-banging. I found the restrains to be very well padded. Caught my earring on one ride but...
