 ^^ That's brilliant....
I always thought it was slightly dodgy to 'name' the coaster on the database without knowing for sure that it's actually called that .
Any pic updates? :(
Aye, 100 pages .
I don't mind having to wade through all this speculation, mostly because I like it .
I'm liking the look of the track that has been constructed. I'm slightly confused as to what everyone's saying about the angles of the switchback section... I s'pose I'm also...
I was merely saying what my friend had said. At that time I couldn't be bothered to go into detail how wrong he was. I knew what he meant and most times I ignore their mistakes .
I hate it when my friends get involved with rollercoaster talk, because they're no good at it!
*FRIEND* What was that coaster in Ohio that launches you, goes straight up about 300 feet and then back down?
*ME* Top Thrill Dragster.
*FRIEND* no... It's Maverick! DUH!
Who's the coaster...
^ I think you missed my # :(
I am also glad that UG Land is going. I think Alton needs a dark themed area with rollercoasters (as apposed to Gloomy Wood). Looking at how well Merlin have pulled off other rides (Saw, Battle Galleons ect) this should hold a good theme :)
I don't really see how the long straight could be a second lift, it's only a few seconds after the first one! That would be a momentum killer. Maybe straight into a tire-driven launch without stopping? Or maybe the track could be straight because there was a straight gap in the trees?
Wow... I didn't realise the backward drop/tilt would be that tall. But then I'm not a very good judge of distance and time . Looking good so far :).
I'm also looking forward to what Alton have planned. Sometimes a family coaster is better than a thrill coaster in some respects and how well everything is done. I think Merlin will make a successful coaster, whether enthusiasts like it or not .
Just because a backwards tilt/launch has been done already, doesn't mean that it can't be used here. They didn't say that the world's first will be how they get the train to go backwards.
I understand that, of course, the indoor section is the most probable place for the world's first element...
Has anyone got any new pictures yet? I'm getting too interested in this project >__< .
Has anyone thought about how the world's first element will fit with a storyline? Neither has been released, I know that, but lets talk ideas... :?
I thought about that, but forgot it  (not trying to steal thunder :? )
I quite like the idea, and how big is the drop? Or does no-one know? Because I've always thought that the drop would be too short to go vertical for a feasable amount of time :?
You raise an interesting question
I agree, Alton Towers want to keep the cost down, so buying new trains just for that is a bit of a waste.
The intamin trains could well be for SW6, they may already be there but no-one knows. If the world's first is on the train, then they'd want to...
I agree, but I don't see much point in removing the ride for nothing. There will have to be some sort of replacement there and they'd be missing out on a good oppurtunity if it wasn't a good coaster.
Or could they use that space to make it seem less crowded and claustraphobic? :?
