Weird, Wacky & Strange Coaster Bits

The zenith of Arrow's bonkers design teamed with their horrible attempts at heartlining is the legendary Drachen Fire: The second corkscrew shown was removed it was so badly done. Saying that, I'd LOVE to have ridden it just for the mad layout.

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

Well if its ops are anything like Hollywood Dream they'll be fine, that thing eats people like no other coaster I've seen. They do also seem to have gone for shock and awe with the number of trains, there seems to be about a thousand of them, that should help :P

Australia- Sea World & Warner Bros Movie World PTR

Cool reports, always interesting to see reports of parks that we don't hear much about. Thanks for sharing! Should sort out my Tokyo trip report, you've inspired me!

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

I realise it's a bit tricky to tell, but is the black floor to the left of the trains in the picture perhaps a 'magic carpet' similar to the one found on Hollywood: Rock Rip Ride Film It Breakdown Breakrun thingy at Universal Studios Florida? Can anyone who's been on that ride confirm?

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

I came across this completely accidentally, but pic of the station and trains, and some more information (like 2-car trains!): OSAKA--Universal Studios Japan is set to unveil a galactic roller coaster ride in which human adventurers "rescue" the ailing sun. Built at a cost of 4 billion...

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

^^No, not a film, they've just made it up as far as I can tell. ^Hollywood Dream: The Ride is styled rather than themed, fits in nicely with the park and the entrance is in one of the Hollywood streets, but you're right, there's no strong theme like most of the other rides. This new one...

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

Ancient double post ftw. Opening soon, and still not much to add! But I'll be there opening weekend, camera at the ready. And one more thing, an English advert which, if anything, makes the story sound even weirder... http://www.usj.co.jp/e/

Mountain Flyer - GCI Woodie for Knight Valley, Shenzhen

Will open 'late this year'... Hurry up! I might be very far away again by then! That drop looks ridiculous...

    Liseberg in the snow

THE ICE BAR! I (foolishly) assumed it would be open when I went in June, it was about the only disappointment of the trip... :-(

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

Just a couple of quick things... Name! Logo! And I also found some information about the story (haven't bothered to read it properly yet, but involves a female called a G-Bot, hmm) and that it may be 8 cars per train, though that was on the Japanese wikipedia page and didn't have a...

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

Also the exchange rate will look screwy, the Yen is not helping the Japanese economy by completely hammering all the other currencies. And, of course, they have to employ a 50% larger staff full of box-checkers to supervise the workers actually putting up the coaster...

Long, Late, Nasu Highlands Photo Trip Report

Awesome, thanks for the info. Bearing in mind we're going to USJ and the Japanese public holidays that fall at the time my friends are visiting, I probably won't go for a big park like Disney or Fuji-Q, but Tokyo Dome seems like an easy one to please everyone. Fingers crossed... Cheers!

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

Good find, I knew there was another website I hadn't thought of, that one's always proved to be accurate in the past. Haven't found anything from any Japanese sites yet, there are more train nerds than coaster nerds on the web here. I'll have a nose around when I go (maybe on Friday) and see...

Space Fantasy: The Ride, new (Mack Spinner?) for USJ

I don't think there's a topic on this... USJ is building a new indoor coaster based on a space theme for spring 2010. The new coaster will be 585m long and will take guests on a tour of the solar system and will go in the old ET Adventure building (which is currently still in use as ET...

Long, Late, Nasu Highlands Photo Trip Report

Oops, forgot to reply to this to say a quick thanks for the suggestion! I'll be sure to do a TR if I manage to get on anything, though this does involve persuading three other people that they do love coasters really. Fingers crossed...

Long, Late, Nasu Highlands Photo Trip Report

^Thanks, I've been to Toyko once for a few days and haven't even begun to see it all, and if I get the urge for a mediocre coaster there's always Thunder Dolphin :P

Long, Late, Nasu Highlands Photo Trip Report

Nice report, I've always liked the look of Nasu Highlands for two reasons. One, it looks like it was designed in RCT, and two, I've been slightly fascinated by Big Boom since I first saw a POV of it on TPR, covered in snow and going down that ridiculous first drop (and the bizarre brake run)...

Joris en de Draak - Dueling GCI for Efteling

Cutting your own toes off with a blunt teaspoon is more enjoyable than riding Pegasus :P This could be awesome, GCIs in the last few years (like Troy) have looked more impressive than the slightly older ones. Fingers crossed!

    Gröna Lund, Stockholm PTR

Nice, I had a good time last time I took a cheap Ryanair flight to a Swedish city in order to visit a park, and I like the look of Grona Lund the more I see it. Though I don't think Ryanair are flying from Japan just yet... Awesome hostel! Got any pics of the inside?
