Re: The Swarm - B&M 'Wing-Rider', Thorpe Park 2012
The third A-frame for the lift is making good progress. The lift could be topped off by the weekend at this rate.
Re: The Swarm - B&M 'Wing-Rider', Thorpe Park 2012
Looks to be a similar angle to Oblivion and B&M's newer rides. Steep, but not insane :) I actually find 'blivvy's lift §hill quite relaxing ;)
Re: "Wild Eagle" - B&M Wingrider for Dollywood 2012
I guess it all turns out on what the 'philosophy' of a wing rider turns out to be... Bit flakey a know, but think of if like this: A B&M flyer is all about smooth turns and graceful transitions (the recent Chinese flyer which although looking...
Re: Leviathan - B&M giga coaster for Canada's Wonderland
That's the reason they're 'good'. The amount of effort and cost put in per foot of track is much higher.
$30M is a HUGE price-tag, but it's really pushing the boundaries of what B&M's track was designed for, so the higher bits of track...
Re: The Swarm - B&M 'Wing-Rider', Thorpe Park 2012
Not sure that we do. That one in America is filled with mostly military planes I think - and we recycle most of ours.
So excited to see it go vertical too! AT LAST!
I've never been to the opening day, but always been during week 2 or 3 for...
Re: "Unknown", B&M Invert for Parc Asterix
Cool - I'll be looking forwards to seeing how these feel! My only experience of a B&M invert zero-g is Nemesis and Nemesis: Inferno. The second zero-g (behind the station) is more like the shape I'd expect though :)
SEX ON A STICK!
Re: "Unknown", B&M Invert for Parc Asterix
Absolutely correct. Which is why this is *not* a zero G roll. To achieve zero-g, the rider must travel in a parabolic curve. On an inverted coaster, this means that the top of the track must be flat - Katun is a perfect example:
The top of this...
Re: "Unknown", B&M Invert for Parc Asterix
I think it's the biggest, most action packed, most impressive small coaster that B&M have made in a long time, maybe ever.
They really know how to make a small custom invert very special.
Re: "Unknown", B&M Invert for Parc Asterix
It could be there as an extra block so that trains can leave the station quicker.
Even if it's not, the fact that it drops down into another trench straight after it I think will mean that the pacing won't be too ruined. At least that's what I'm...
3 hours for Air on the 2nd weekend after it opened. Apart from that, I don't queue for more than 90 minutes. No matter how good a coaster is, I'd prefer to have four rides on a slightly inferior one than spend all that time queueing.
For new rides, I now take days off work during the super...
Just watched an hour long documentary on the making of Kentucky Rumbler, El Toro and The Voyage on Quest - might be repeated, look out for it. It was part of a series called 'Building the biggest'. This episode was predictably called 'rollercoasters'. I was made back in 2005 so it's a little...
