    The TV we watch...

Back in the day when The Joy of Painting was originally screened, my dad was so hooked he went out and bought a bunch of paint and brushes to try to replicate some of the paintings. They turned out surprisingly well. Also, you might enjoy this teaser trailer for Deadpool 2. NSFW.

Are the seats on Colossus particularly small?

Not been on EGF but I did manage to fit into Goliath fine. Yeah, definitely not my belly that was the problem, just chest size. Thank feck for that. If anybody needs me, I'll be down the KFC.

Are the seats on Colossus particularly small?

I was forced to do The Walk of Shame yesterday :( Okay, I could do with losing several pounds, but the thing is that I've been exactly the same size and weight for several years. In that time I must have ridden 200+ coasters and the only one I couldn't fit into was a tiny kiddie cred. But when...

    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

Isn't 18 Euros remarkably cheap? It made the news recently when one of the test suppliers at UK airports reduced the cost of a test from £120 to £60.

Badly worded heading from LancsLive... Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach breaks near the top down forcing people to climb down

    YAY Merlin!

It's rather nice when they do that! Only ever happened to me once, several years ago, at park opening on a really quiet day. They propped open the gate between the offload and loading areas and I managed 14 rides in an hour before a gradual trickle of people coming up the ramp meant they had to...

Do you prefer steel roller coasters or wooden roller coasters?

The very best coasters are steel or hybrid. But the average wooden coaster is better than the average steel coaster. So I'll plump for wood.

    Thorpe Park 19th April 2021

Sixteen months since I was last on a coaster! Had to put that right on the first day that my Merlin Discovery pass was usable. Arrived for 0945. Not nearly as quiet as expected with a load of kids who should theoretically have been back at school. There was no sign of Stealth testing but we...

New (temporary, hired) flat rides for Alton Towers

It's a start, I guess. But the 1600 close on weekdays right through to the end of June is still ridiculous.

Oh, he's definitely still a bit of a dick! The music's good though.

    Music Recommendations

If you like Talking Heads I'd recommend the concert film David Byrne's American Utopia. 'S really good. Directed by none other than Spike Lee. I don't normally have much time for his films but he knocked it out of the park with this one.

    Gigs 'n' Tours

Had tickets to see the original line-up of The Damned at Hammersmith Odeon in July but it's just been postponed until an unspecified date next year :(

Rides at Buffalo Bill's Casino closed until further notice

What I'd like to know is how on earth they managed to find this thread. Presumably there's some way of searching for "reasonably popular boards which have topics with casino in the title"?

    Obscure special effects

First time I rode X:\No Way Out it was towards the end of its running backwards days and as I recall there wasn't a single effect working throughout. Or even any lights. There was a brief pause in the dark at one point which was presumably to allow time for riders to catch a particular effect...

Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach; overrated or underappreciated?

I kinda figured I'd lose some friends by suggesting that Helix might not be The Greatest Thing Ever.

Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach; overrated or underappreciated?

Agreed. It's not a terrible coaster by any stretch, but in my book a launch coaster needs decent launches. Then again, I was similarly underwhelmed by Helix, so what do I know? I even scored the fabled front row on the last train of the night and still didn't get the hype.

The best park in the world for each major manufacturer?

Agreed on SFGA, and SeaWorld is a certainly a decent suggestion for an alternative. Personally speaking, I'd take Canada's Wonderland over either as I'm not a fan of flying coasters. Behemoth and Leviathan are definitely more my kind of thang. Haven't been on Yukon Striker but it doesn't look...

The best park in the world for each major manufacturer?

Not much in it, but for Intamin I'd go with Ferrari World rather than Cedar Point. That double whammy of Formula Rossa and Flying Aces is tough to beat.
