Liability and Economics: If B&M says that parts or track structures at the end of their service life (these coasters were built in early 1990's) and need to be replaced to ensure safe operation, and Cedar Fair determines it not to be worth the expense (i.e. partial/full retrack, new trains and...
It's not so much age itself being my concern, but rather everything getting to a point where B&M can no longer effectively guarantee its safe continued operation/maintenance without a complete ship-of-Theseus type of rebuild everything (structure, trains, controls, etc.).
Think you are overall correct. I think I recall reading that CGA hasn't been hitting its financial targets for a few years now, and has had ongoing issues with its location (parking dispute with 49ers stadium/city, earthquake-proofing requirements on larger new construction, etc.) Could def see...
Oh wow they had a decent sized queue building for it. Shame they lost it. Hopefully they can get a replacement control box from Interlink relatively quickly.
Good news is that the park is still on track for a soft opening in May/June at least.
Very true. Only have anecdotal evidence, but I know that a lot of people in NJ/PA that own season passes for Dorney Park primarily go for its waterpark onsite, especially in the peak of summer heat.
That was a recurring theme during peak covid seasons in 2020 and 2021 as well according to trip...
Well this is a bit underwhelming. But looking back on the Thanksgiving video and their responses , it sounds like they are gearing up to add/redo a good amount of the dry park and "transform it into a place for families to enjoy' (paraphrasing) as they put it, and fill out that section of the...
Missed that part of the video. could definitely be a suggestion for it, maybe a misdirect too. I do agree that it was intentionally added though. Also worth pointing out that they filmed it with Rampage, a wooden roller coaster, clearly framed in the background. Plus after looking up the park on...
They hinted at some ideas for potential expansion in an ACE event video from 2019 ( link: ACE Winter Warm Up Welcome & Alabama Adventure ) also mentions they were looking at eventually adding at least two of:
A small Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter (I.e Iron Shark - they mentioned as a specific...
Well I mean they primarly have a business background (they previously owned a local kitchen cabinet manufacturing business for decades and recently sold it to focus on this and the existing waterpark). Plus water parks and theme parks have different operations requirements so it makes sense...
I posted the below to r/rollercoasters yesterday, figured I'd share here:
Screamscape just posted an update about Conneaut Lake Park , and its not exactly good news. Highlights of the post include:
Ride cars from the park's now defunct Tumble Bug ride may have been posted on ebay for an...
After looking up it’s location on Google Maps, it looks like the park does have the advantage of a good location as a tourist attraction between Buffalo and Niagara Falls with room to expand. But it will take a lot of CapEx, good management, and marketing to make it happen.
Any area...
Looks like they have entered into a “tentative agreement” and are aiming for a 2022 reopening.
Two other interesting notes are:
Staples appears to be planning on pursuing loans/incentives from the area government and/or economic development organization l, following a similar business...
Originally found this on r/rollercoasters.
Not sure if it was posted already, but Indiana Beach and Clementon Park reviver Gene Staples appears to be closing in on a lease to re-open and operate Fantasy Island near Buffalo, NY from the REIT that currently owns the property.

New aerial photos of the park's construction were posted on the Des Moines Register's website (courtesy of Reddit): Source ( Full Article Link here)
Compared to the original site plan from the groundbreaking press conference, it looks like the log flume and Kanonen have switched site...
Looks pretty close to it. And I'm with you on the green-on-green look, it's growing on me. If that area of the park is in fact a temple-ruins themed area than it will really pop and make much more sense as well.
Thanks for the updates!
Looks like some of the Theming is now visible on the building architecture and other structures, including the buildings on the fourth photo resembling the vaguely Asian-architecture shown in the "Water"-themed area of the the park:
Also, it looks like that that...
Interesting, I have never been so I cannot speak to it.
Some of the takes I heard were that After Herschend made investments in the park they weren't seeing the ROI they wanted so Herschend essentially stagnated for the remaining term of their operating agreement with the owners. Cannot...
I haven't been to any either, but FWIW, Hershend's non-headline properties (Wild Adventures, Darien Lake (when they previously operated it) apparently are not as well invested in/run as Dollywood and Silver Dollar City from what I have heard online.
Hopefully the park being in a large...
