Gulliver's Warrington - A busy, run down park cred trip

I've not visited since the Live way back in 2007 (I can only assume they didn't have the silly rule at that time) - and duly noted; when my honorary niece is tall enough to treat me to a day at Gullivers, make sure it's a school day. Always a shame to see a park in a sorry state, but clearly...

    The Goony Stats Thread

I don't particularly like this, because it rewards having a park full of 'slightly above average' rather than somewhere with a couple of amazing coasters and a load of filler, but here it is anyway. King's Island still has better coasters than Cedar Point though. I didn't ride everything at...

    Your Mack Count

Bank holidays are boring, so the spreadsheet's having a bit of work on it. I've realised I can very easily do a Top 10, because (to further my above point) I've only given ten more than 6/10. 1. Helix (obviously) 2. RIde To Happiness 3. Voltron Nevera (an acquired taste, and sadly it'll be a...

Do you wanna know what really grinds my gears?

They've had their moments this season, to be fair - my post in the other topic was my usual 'back on topic, folks' joke I've wanted to moan about the monorail windows for months and just happened to remember this topic existed. A monorail overhaul would make me very happy, even if I do usually...

I have a question about Six Flags MM

I had to call it a day after Flight of Fear earlier in the year: I hadn't done my research and expected something fairly sedate. It happens sometimes - it's also easy to dehydrate etc. during a long park day which can hugely affect your tolerance

Your UK motorway service station count

Wait until you get to Oxford - definite game changer ;) South Mimms and Lancaster: avoid.

    Your Mack Count

Fair - but only in the same way that Minifigure Speedway is the most thrilling Zierer in the country. I'm a Europa fan, so I love Mack, don't get me wrong - but we haven't yet got one in this country that's worth going out of my way to ride.

Do you wanna know what really grinds my gears?

Alton Towers. Take the stupid mesh off the monorail windows and give the whole thing a ****ing good clean. AWFUL first impression - and you only get to make ONE first impression

I don't like Merlin. Merlin are bad.

Thirteen or Gold Rush; which of the UK’s family trick track Intamins do you prefer?

Not ridden Gold Rush yet, though I do plan to get there next month. I suspect Thirteen will still win this on grounds of theming and how much I like it at night.

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

The media reporting of this has been awful. Looks like it was the car park, but certainly not inside the actual park (which, I agree, unless it was Thorpe would have been alarming) Nevertheless, the security at the Southern parks will get a bit more gung ho for a bit.

    "Now Showing"

^ My brother went to see it - he said the first half was good and the second half wasn't. Rather like the football match I watched on the same day. I'm very out of the loop with films, but Beetlejuice 2 is coming out soon - I'm very biased due to thinking Jenna Ortega is an excellent successor...

    Your Mack Count

I think Mack are second to Vekoma as my 'most ridden manufacturer' - it's surprising that their thrill coasters haven't made it further afield (DC Rivals not withstanding) - and I'm hopeful that the UK will get a significant one at some point. Helix is obviously the best of them that I've...

Oakwood Theme Park or Pleasurewood Hills?

Oakwood may be in a sorry state, but it has Hydro and Megafobia. PWH is a park full of 'one and dones' although the little Schwarzkopf is decent - but the operations are terrible.

    YAY Merlin!

At the very least, there's signs and such - it's common sense. No problem with groups using single rider, but it doesn't require a staff member. Rides management are AWFUL at Alton Towers, it is known. ...I'm also amused by the posts saying 'Thorpe had a good day and ran their rides' - this...

    Your Most Ridden Manufacturers

Brag post more than anything, but this year is now my most cred-tastic (which I admit I've worked bloody hard on) AND I rode my 100th Vekoma (which I have not worked hard on) More to come, as I'm heading back Stateside for Hallowe'en and obviously there's a couple of new coasters in the UK...
