Vietnam Report - Part 3: Ho Chi Minh +1s

There’s a bit of random faff left for this report, but it includes a handful of +1s, so in the interests of completeness, and procrastinating at work, I’ll hammer it out. We had a third day in Phu Quoc and just designated it a pool/beach day. I’m not a massive beach/pool person, but I can...

Vietnam Report - Part 3: Ho Chi Minh +1s

The next day was Christmas Day. A tropical island doesn’t feel very Christmassy anyway, so might as well go to a park. VinWonders was in the far north of the island. We were staying quite far south, so the taxi took us about an hour. Vinpearl is the other major park operator in Vietnam, along...

Accident on Bullet Coaster at Happy Valley Shenzhen

That's very China: arrest a handful of individuals extremely quickly in order to be seen to be doing something to protect the people.

    Your 2023 in Review

I'm not going to go into the same detail as some others, but here's a few bits: Coaster count at start of 2023: 1717 Coaster count at end of 2023: 1843 Coaster count increase: +126 (Up from only 18 in 2022 and now currently my 8th best year) New Parks: 54 (but that includes stuff with just an...

Does China Have An Enforced 20 Year Service Life On It's Coasters?

^No idea then. It's the first I've seen and a quick Google search (very quick admittedly) isn't bringing anything up. I found the Parrot Coaster sign in an old trip report. The coaster opened in January 2014.

Does China Have An Enforced 20 Year Service Life On It's Coasters?

Are you getting that mixed up with Tokyo? On my very first visit to Ocean Kingdom, I saw an expiry date on some certificate on Parrot Coaster, the B&M wing coaster. My hard drive with my coaster photos is at work, but I'll see if I can find a picture of it on Monday.

Vietnam Report - Part 3: Ho Chi Minh +1s

I booked the tickets (for both this place and the one up north) using Trip.com (or maybe one of them was Klook?). You can just scan the QR codes directly from those apps with no need to go to ticket windows. To get around, use Grab (works like Uber). There are various shuttle buses, much moreso...

    League of Goons: 2024: Registration

Summat to do innit. Hong Kong - specifically Jordan Station if that makes a difference.

Vietnam Report - Part 3: Ho Chi Minh +1s

For the Christmas holiday, we decided to head to a beach resort while squeezing in a few final creds for the year. I’d been meaning to travel to Phu Quoc for a while, an island off the south coasts of Vietnam/Cambodia, and direct Hong Kong flights had recently been reinstated. We went quite...

    China: Lionsgate and Chimelong Spaceship

Chimleong Spaceship, the second gate at Ocean Kingdom, recently opened in Zhuhai, so I popped across for the weekend a few weeks ago, taking in the relatively new Lionsgate Entertainment Complex on the first afternoon, then doing “Spaceship the following day. No Ocean Kingdom this time even...

Forbidden Journey or Gringotts: Battle of the Harry Potter dark rides

When I first rode both of them, on the same trip not long after Gringotts opened, it was hands down Forbidden Journey. However, after now riding Forbidden Journey quite a few more times, including very recently in Beijing, I'm kind of going off it. I've got a Florida trip coming up in...

Universal considering UK theme park in Bedford

Yeah, but I was responding to the idea of "adding a Hagrid's" etc. to the existing UK attraction. That's just not feasible given that Universal have literally nothing to do with it. If the WB tour wanted to add rides (no indication in the slightest that they want to go down that route), why...

Universal considering UK theme park in Bedford

The Harry Potter tour in the UK has nothing to do with Universal though. Universal licensed it from Warner Brothers for their parks, so I'm not sure how it would work in the UK given that Warner Brothers are running their own attraction. I think it would be more of an obstacle than anything.

    Parque De Attractions

I'll probably go back at some point, but no immediate plans. I had a Spain trip planned out for a couple of years ago (Covid put a stop to that), so I might look at that again at some point.

    "Now Showing"

Wonka Really enjoyed it. Lots of nods to the old Gene Wilder film, with the humour being quite "Roald Dahl" while also having newer references. The cast is really good, with lots of "Oh, it's him/her from..." moments if you're familiar with British TV. I got a bit of a nasty shock when that...

    Parque De Attractions

I had the same issue with that place years ago. It had been raining in the morning, stopped by early afternoon and changed to bright sunshine, but they didn't reopen anything because of the "bad weather". C**ts.

Opinions on The Smiler from alton towers?

I've only ridden it once. I expected not to like it much. I actually quite enjoyed it. That's it for my in-depth analysis.

Universal considering UK theme park in Bedford

It looks like I'll be changing my plans for my London Resort visit again. I'll change my hotel booking to somewhere between both parks so I can hit them both in the same trip.
