What’s behind the recent rise in “rattle” criticism on new rides?

Hi guys. You’d think that as time goes on and technology advances, new coasters would get smoother and more comfortable. And for the most part, this is true; we’ve come a very long way in terms of coaster smoothness since the rougher rides of the 1980s, for example! But in the last year to the...

Are We At the End of the Third Golden Age?

To offer slightly less of a doom and gloom perspective, what I think has happened that could be a contributor is that the industry has shifted away from pure thrill coaster hardware somewhat since the 1990s and 2000s, and that rather than an industry in decline, we’re simply seeing an industry...

    Kings Dominion | Rapterra | B&M Launched Wing Coaster | 2025

From off-ride, that rattle looks almost Furius Baco-like, which would be rather concerning from a brand new B&M Wing Coaster built 18 years on from Baco…

    Alton Towers' Next Big Thing?

After a long period of inactivity, Theme Park Worldwide has today posted an update on Project Horizon, both in terms of concrete things and in terms of what Shawn’s own sources (who have previously proven quite reliable) are telling him about the project’s status: In summary: Shawn’s sources...

Alton Towers | Unknown | Unknown Junior Coaster | 2026

Postman Pat actually occupies a deceptively large area, from having looked at Google Earth. According to my rough Google Earth scour, it’s around 87m long and 26m wide at its longest point in each dimension. For comparison, Octonauts, the other coaster in the area, is around 34m long and 15m...

Alton Towers | Unknown | Unknown Junior Coaster | 2026

I don’t think that’s too likely seeing as Chessington’s coaster has an outdoor section whereas Horizon doesn’t. The only known similarity between the two proposals is a large shed; we have no confirmation or even indication that Horizon is/was an Intamin Multidimensional Coaster.

Alton Towers | Unknown | Unknown Junior Coaster | 2026

This is definitely not what I was expecting the park’s next investment after Project Ocean to be! I think it could be a bigger coaster than Octonauts myself. It would make more sense given the current gaps in Alton’s lineup if it was a little bigger, and I also think that a tiny coaster...

    Ride Related Dreams You've Had

I had an interesting theme park dream last night… I was at Universal Orlando riding the Hogwarts Express… except they’d replaced the ornately themed Harry Potter train carriages with a fleet of CrossCountry Class 170 trains, replicated almost piece-by-piece from those seen on the Cardiff...

Parque del Café | Avix | Gerstlauer Infinity Inverted | 2025

I think that GCI woodie in Vietnam where it pretty much sprung up without anyone hearing about it was also a pretty short one: https://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/sun-world-hon-thom-nature-park-i-roaring-timbers-gci-terrain-woodie-2022.45205/ But yes, I think this ride may have taken the...

    Top 10(ish): 2024 Edition - page 124

Out of curiosity, how are you able to rank things you don’t know if you’ve ridden? Surely if you can rank them, you’ve definitely ridden them, no? Or am I missing something here?

    Universal Studios Japan | Mine-Cart Madness | "Boom Coaster" {Rumour} | 2024

For a relatively obscure manufacturer, Universal seem to like Setpoint; they seem to have had a fair few Universal projects (didn’t they do Pteranodon Flyers and/or its Singapore equivalent whose name I can’t currently remember?). I wonder why Setpoint don’t seem to have done a lot outside of...

Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

The fishhook wouldn’t have been full-circuit, though, would it? For some reason, there seems to be a distinction made between coasters that are full-circuit and coasters that aren’t when it comes to height…

Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

I love the fact that the industry is now focused on quality over pure record breaking as much as the next person, but I must admit that there is something quite exciting about seeing a ride like this go up. We’re very used to coasters that break very obscure records nowadays, but this is a...

Carowinds retires Nighthawk and two flat rides

Six Flags are bringing the knife down in terms of coaster closures, it would seem. I wonder what’s suddenly spurred the merged company to close so many rides?

    Hossoland | Poland | Theme Park | 2025

They seem to be taking a very odd approach to construction. Surely you’d typically build rides first and then theme? Won’t it be a lot harder to build rides after they’ve built theming?

What are your thoughts on social media and its impact on society?

Hi guys. Social media is ever-present in our lives today; even if you haven't got an account, its impact has been wide-ranging and hard to escape. It's been very controversial, and I'd be interested to know; what are your thoughts on social media and its impact on society? Where do you stand on...

What made you fall in love with coasters?

I wouldn’t worry about getting turned away from rides too much. My dad is 6’6”/6’7”, so still 4-5 inches taller than you, and he can still ride plenty; there’s only the odd couple of things he’s ever been turned away from (mainly Spinball Whizzer at Alton, where they’re oddly on it with height...

Weird, Wacky & Strange Coaster Bits

If it was for aerospace research, maybe it was the Chinese answer to NASA's Vomit Comet to see if astronauts can handle high g-forces? Or some sort of endurance test, similar to the hypothetical Euthanasia Coaster but not quite as extreme?
