Been a while (and a lot of new creds 😬) since I’ve posted in here, but I figured I’d talk about my experience on my newest major cred!
#280: GaleForce was impressive! After spending a good half hour trying to find parking in Ocean City (try to find a metered spot or park at the McDonald’s half...
People seem to forget that this project is NOT to get people from outside the country to go to Saudi Arabia. That may be a nice side effect, but the actual purpose of Quiddiya is to boost domestic tourism. One thing SA does have is a lot of people, and if those people are vacationing inside the...
This… isn’t quite how it works. What we call “G-force” is actually a measure of acceleration, not force. One G is equivalent to the downward acceleration we feel due to the Earth’s gravity, or 9.8 m/s^2. On tight turns and valleys, the radial acceleration produced by the curve in the train’s...
It’s Knoebels here, by a mile and a half. Hershey has a much better coaster collection, but the park layout is awful and the park itself is more often than not miserable to be in. Knoebels, on the other hand, is my favorite place on earth and could not be more different from Hershey. The staff...
Toutatis by a couple of country miles. I haven't done most of the rides on the list, but the only one I can really see beating it is Taiga. GeForce comes close, but nothing I've done in Europe beats what Toutatis does. Absolutely phenomenal ride.
Now that my first Europe trip has come to a close, I can post my updated, post-Europe top 20. This is the first time that I’ve made a top 20 and felt that it really was a curation of the best of the best that I’ve done, and every ride really deserves to be there.
1. Voyage
2. Iron Gwazi

God, F&F. What a heaping pile of ****e. It’s only enjoyable because you can laugh at how bad it is while you’re on the ride. I think Kong is forgettable, and the automated trackless ride system is the most interesting part to me. At least it’s not actively bad like F&F is though.
If you had told me even 3 days ago that I’d be riding Expedition GeForce on this trip, I’d have called you a liar. But I found myself merely 50 miles from Holiday Park, and quickly looked at the train schedule to see if it was feasible. Lo and behold, the schedule lined up perfectly, and the...
After my harrowing journey to PortAventura (detailed here) we were on a time crunch, and were only able to get on each of the main coasters and Hurakan Condor once. A revisit is definitely warranted, but even if it wasn’t, I would love to come back here. Everything about the park besides the...
As I was writing my usual write-up of new creds from my last park visit, I realized I needed to include context for why I arrived at the park late and had the time constraints I did, because it’s an interesting story. I started writing, and by the time I finished, I realized that what I had put...
Great report Matt! I always love how well you articulate your thoughts on everything. I will say, please try to get on VelociCoaster in the front at least once, and try to be around that plaza as the sun sets and night falls. That area is really something special.
I agree with your thoughts on...
If this were simply a question of what model my highest ranked B&M is, then it would be the Hyper Coaster by a long shot. However, I've come to find that Fury 325 is the exception, not the rule for B&M Hypers, and the rest of them find themselves significantly further down in my list. Since this...
As long as the park has a ride that I thoroughly enjoy, I'm more than happy to revisit if given the opportunity. However, if it's a choice between a new park and a park that I know I like, I'll choose the new park. That doesn't mean I don't like revisits, I'd just rather go someplace new. I am...
HoliWood Nights came and went, and as always it’s the best weekend of the year. I figured that even though I’d been there before and gotten all the creds, It’d be worth it to report back here to report the changes to the rides and how they’re running compared to last year in general.
Voyage...
1: Voyage - Picking up speed through the entire second half, seemingly out of nowhere. The fact that it’s a terrain coaster is so well hidden that it feels like it’s violating the laws of physics on that downhill return run.
2: Iron Gwazi - The wave turn over the station. Sideways airtime the...
