Had an amazing time yesterday, was so lovely to meet such a friendly group of enthusiasts! Very interested in a Plopsa Live, January works better than December for me, although there is a chance it could clash with another trip. Either way, the next one I am able to attend, I will be!
Thanks...
This wasn’t my first time in Florida, I last went for a week at Disney in early March 2020. I found the weather a good bit more manageable at that time of year. This was actually before I became an enthusiast. The pandemic was in full swing shortly after I returned and for some reason going to...
It wasn’t a crowbar but not far off, it was a long metal tool they had hanging on the wall and they were able to use it to release the lap bars. It must have been pretty tedious though as they had to do each row individually! 😁
I recently returned from a big 2 week trip to Florida, I had an incredible time, although I am branding it the "Hell Swamp" (I will also accept "America's sweaty undercarriage") because the heat and the humidity were borderline unbearable in parts. I am possibly part polar bear when it comes to...
This is a fairly recent realisation for me:
Coasters in distant lands should not be seen as more desirable than the likely excellent coasters that are closer to you.
This seems obvious right? But what I mean is that I’ll often act as though American coasters are going to be better because it...
I find I often end up being quite oblivious to the story of a dark ride, but I’m drawn in by the visual element. Phantom Manor for example has one of the most visually stunning stations I’ve ever seen. It’s about enjoying being in that space and enjoying the wealth of things to look at, as well...
Glad to see BPB getting something new, I really enjoyed Loke at Liseberg - and I'm not normally that interested in flat rides. It's probably not enough to draw me back any time soon, although maybe I'll combine it with some other trip.
Like a lot of Mack thrill coasters it warms up a lot, I could imagine someone who has ridden a lot more coasters than me having this opinion if they rode it at the start of the day.
I wonder what the impact of park visit habits is on this sort of thing, I pretty much never ride Wicker Man at...
Obviously manufacturer rankings are going to be highly variable between people, but some overall trends will typically emerge, with the likes of RMC, Intamin and B&M being given top tier status. The rise of Mack Rides over the last few years is particularly noteworthy though, with a number of...
Nemesis probably has the biggest nostalgic following among UK enthusiasts, deservedly so as it's still a great ride. It doesn't surprise me Hyperia doesn't top it for some people. Does anyone have any really weird takes though? Is there anyone who thinks the Big One or Sik or the Runaway Mine...
One of the things I think it does really well is that it manages to have great airtime while not being a sequence of hills. I do enjoy that style of coaster, but I find it a bit repetitive. I think I'd like a bit more element variety than what you propose. I've never gotten into the layout...
Would it be safe to assume that adding more elements at the end would mean there could be no trim on the splashdown? If so, I think a bit more length could definitely help. But they would have to maintain the sense of pace, otherwise I think they could make it a worse experience.
I've not included Sik or Colossus as I haven't ridden them (can't actually fit in Colossus' restraints) and I've ridden Shockwave, but not the Wave:
1. Stealth
That super punchy launch really makes it, it is short, but also a must ride on every visit to Thorpe in my opinion. I think the UK's...
I think there's a natural limit to the number of people who will be drawn in by big thrills. A lot of people attend parks but don't ride the big beasts. Parks can build smaller experiences more cheaply, possibly even invest in quality theming and get a better outcome than if they build the next...
But opening day was really quite successful, they aren't sugarcoating that, I was there, it was a great day. The queues were huge, but it's opening day, of course they were. What came after has been the ride being closed, I don't see any sugarcoating there, just "our apologies, here's when we...
It depends on what information you think is appropriate for them to share. As enthusiasts we're obviously interested in the technical reasons behind the issue, but us knowing those reasons is inconsequential. For park guests all they need to know is an estimate of when the ride will be available...
He does suggest it as an option, but he also said that if it was going to happen, it likely would be happening already and we haven't seen signs of that.
