I REALLY hope it's open again tomorrow and Wednesday. I was trying to race to Tennessee as quickly as I could to go to the park but as luck would have it, as soon as I checked into my cabin I ran into problems. There's no water so I had to call maintenance. Oh well, I still might go on the...
I'm leaving Friday morning so I might miss this by ONE day. :( I wish they would open this already. I mean there's kids riding it now and yet it's still closed to the public. I wonder what the hold up is.
Maybe this is just me wanting the ride to open this week but I would think a Memorial Day...
It's now testing with trains full of water dummies. Not sure how long employee training takes, but I imagine I'm still going to miss this one by a few weeks.
One of my old coaster friends, Devin (formerly of C-net), rode it and said it was the best wooden coaster he's been on. Hopefully it'll open in the next week or two.
Sounds like testing is still going smoothly but as my trip draws near (20 days), I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll be ready. With that said, I applaud Dollywood's attention to detail and safety and that they aren't carelessly rushing this after it was delayed.
This new video shows the...
Glad to hear it's opening sometime in May. I just really hope it's open by May 24th and not the last few days of the month. It might take me a while to get over missing the ride by a matter of days, especially since Dollywood is a 24+ hour round-trip for me and I probably won't be back anytime soon.
According to Screamscape, Lance reached out to Pete Owens of Dollywood and Pete said that Lightning Rod will resume testing this week and will open in a couple weeks. Hopefully by "couple weeks", that really does mean 2-3 weeks. I also hope that whatever tweaks they made to launch, this next...
Someone last week posted (maybe on Instagram) a photo of the cars being placed back on the track which is great to see. Hopefully that means they are getting ready to test soon, if they haven't started already. It's winding down to 5 weeks until I leave for Tennessee. I'm trying not to get my...
I really hope that new USA Today article is correct. I'm assuming they just wouldn't throw that into the article just because but rather someone from the park/marketing team informed them that they are aiming for the end of April.
I've been looking at the nearby mountain coasters. I want to try at least one of them if I'm able to. I'm also looking for some good local eats since I don't like eating at chain restaurants that I also have back home.
As for Lightning Rod, I've heard that it's been pretty dead around the...
Hello! New CF member here.
I'm looking forward to (hopefully) being able to ride Lightning Rod this year. I don't travel much anymore but I booked a trip for late May to be able to experience Dollywood for the first time. My main reason for choosing to go to Dollywood over other parks this year...
