Chessington World of Adventures holding public consultation regarding “current proposals and new developments” - potential new attraction?

I actually remember thinking last year that Wild Asia seemed a bit tired and dull looking, and that it generally seemed a bit of a waste of space. It doesn't surprise me that this is happening. It's probably the easiest/cheapest plot of land on site to flatten and redevelop. Meanwhile...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

Guess which idiot booked his trip for the 24th 😭 Tickets successfully changed to 2nd October though. Ugh, just want on this thing already!

Where is your local park and how often do you visit?

My local is the Palace Pier in Brighton. I used to spend my summer holidays there as a child. I go maybe once a year now with friends/family and their kids but even then I skip a fair few of the rides (sometimes I'll also wander on as far as the first donut stand. Who doesn't love a traditional...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

September for me too. There has been talk of going in the summer holidays with the boyfriends sister/nephews, but I don't know if I'd rather wait it out a bit longer. It could be worth it just to get on Hyperia a little bit earlier and not worry about doing much else. Then also go in September...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

Well that's definitely my mind made up for visiting in September instead of June. On the bright side - it looks like I'm going to Flamingo Land later this month. Yay? *uncontrollable sobbing*

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

I'm debating when to go, part of me wants to wait until mid/late September time when I guess things will have died down a bit... but I don't know if I'm willing to wait that long. I might bite the bullet and also go sometime in June. I know it's school trip season (Chessington was hell on earth...

What uk theme park looks most promising and why

Thorpe Park I fully expect to fall back into complacency mode after Hyperia. I hope I'm wrong but... I feel like all of the Merlin parks are going to continue the cycle of being left to decay for years on end, until they've got something new to promote and want to paper over the cracks again...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

Visually the station/queue area puts me in mind of some gentrified coffee shop in some a**hole corner of London, those formerly "don't go there" areas that suddenly get bought up by poshos and suddenly everything looks like... this. Hyperia looks like it charges £12 for an oat latte. Alongside a...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

I have to admit that my inner monologue has been arguing about hangtime recently. Going between - "I hate hangtime, it genuinely frightens me sometimes" and "Yeah... but... don't we want to be scared?". My first ride on this thing going to be an emotional rollercoaster, as well as a literal one.

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

Looks short. But the trains at least appear to look a lot better out in the light of day.

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

I think the trains are ugly, and that "Hyper Coaster 1" would have been a much more aesthetically suitable name for this coaster. But whatever, I'm not about to lose any sleep over it. Hopefully the ride experience will more than make up for the lack of literally anything else.

    Colossus Partial Retrack (Thorpe Park)

How's Samurai been running the past few years? I haven't been on it since 2014/2015 but back then it was barely worth riding. You sort of just... moved around a bit. No force whatsoever. Flamingo Park in Hastings had a top scan briefly (maybe around the same time) and I remember stumbling off...

    WTF Merlin?

Yeah - in my experience it's never been uncommon for ops to either not write the full queue time down or even just say "don't worry about it"... especially towards the end of the day when they all start looking like they're losing the will to live 😂 I would like to see these systems tightened...

    WTF Merlin?

At one point the Merlin parks did have it so that you could only ride with one person using RAP, it just didn't work if you were in a group of people unfortunately. The whole "have your friends wait in the queue and try and get on the same train" theory was an absolute ball-ache in practise. If...

    WTF Merlin?

I don't know if it's the same across all Merlin parks, but when I was at Chessington last year they were rolling out a mobile app as a replacement to having the card/booklet. You'd select a ride on the app and it would either give you a time to get on or tell you walk on through. After you'd...

    WTF Merlin?

That's exactly why I avoid peak days, opening weekends or any "events". I didn't know RAP queues could reach 2 hours. That's insane if true. I struggled with them a little at Towers a couple of years back, and most of those were 10 minutes max on a quiet weekday in June. If I saw a 1-2 hour RAP...

    WTF Merlin?

It sounds like you might not have fully grasped the concept of not every disability being visible. Also, the RAP is not a free form of fast track. After we've been on a ride we have to wait the queue time of that ride before we can rock up to the next. What's unfair about that exactly? As...

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

This might be the first coaster in this country to genuinely terrify me, not counting the innumerable janky seaside creds we have. I'm ready for it!

Thorpe Park | Hyperia | Mack Hyper Coaster | 2024

This 1000% had to be cost cutting over any type of creative decision. Nothing about that mess says stylistic choice. I'm more worried about when they'll get it open currently. I was eyeing up a late April or early May trip but might leave it a bit later. June/July when the brats are still at...

You've got the Flying Fish pottering about on the other side of the park like the apocalypse isn't happening right next to it. I'm sure Saw will be fine 😂
