Of course I might be wrong, but IMO the Superman structure is so over-designed that it could probably go another 30-40 years without any kind of significant investment to both it's foundation and support columns. I mean look at the size of the footer at the base of the tower before the ride...
And Cedar Point mechanics didn't even have to do the work! TTD did it for them all on its own...
*cue 3 foot Goodyear tire bouncing down the Cedar Point midway*
Good for you, stickin' to your guns.
If I were in your shoes I would go the extra mile, and refuse to ride this as some form of ugly-train protest.
That'll show 'em!
"Trains are being assembled..."
Now maybe I'm *way off* but doesn't "being assembled" mean the trains are currently being put together? So there is a possibility that what you're seeing here is not exactly what the final product will be...
That being said I don't give a s**t about how trains...
This is just me spit-balling and looking on the optimistic side of things...
Yes, "X2" is permanently closed. Didn't they say the same about "X" before they closed it and got the new trains?
I know the company is in a completely different place than they were 20 years ago, but I can't help but...
Thanks for the update, and the photo.
Jeebus, those trains are hideous. Backwards launch is currently disabled. "Overall a downgrade" leads me to 2 conclusions.
1) Should have just left the ride the way it was
2) Should have just hired Intamin
Mark this one as a catastrophic failure as far as...
Not only that, how long could they have kept up the original Montezuma, with the maintenence and part costs, until that total accumulated to $20 million dollars?
20 years? 30 years?
So weird to me that on rides like Sheikra and Griffon which are comparatively smaller, gave me some great sustainable airtime, while rides like Valravn and from what you're saying this, with bigger and steeper drops, do not.
I really wonder if it has to do with the vest restraint system...
Six Flags has ALWAYS been this way, for as long as I can remember. I do NOT know why they do this. They have been installing hundreds of rides at dozens of parks for DECADES and they still manage to push things back all the time.
It's like those fake reality TV shows where they are building a...
Let's keep in mind folks, as mentioned earlier ITT, right now they are running the ride without the holding brake at the top of the drop. I'm sure during the initial test runs they want to avoid valleys at any cost, so they're making sure it's going as fast as it can through the circuit to break...
I don't know exactly how good it was because I never made it to Ka, and as much as it pains me to say it, I doubt we will see anything as intricately themed as Golden Kingdom added to SFGAdv ever again.
I didn't understand the need for spinning cars in the first place, knowing what we know as enthusiasts, it just screamed initial issues and a maintenence nightmare down the road.
Overcomplicating something that didn't need it in the first place, the layout is just fine as it is.
I wonder if...
I am going to guess that although the ride is cleared above ground, those KK footers are still in the ground, and there's a lot of them and they're probably huge.
So as opposed to having to pay to demo the footers and have them removed, they just shifted the install to avoid them altogether.
Other than a ride like Tron or Hagrids that might specifically warrant moto-style seating...what is the desire to design trains that place you in perhaps the most uncomfortable riding position ever?
It's no mystery that tire launches are much more susceptible to inconsistencies even with the...
