Just announced a few days ago, three new lands are getting built.

Grizzly Gulch will be a new take on Frontierland, including Big Grizzly Mountain Coaster, a mine train ride featuring life-size animatronic bears, a backwards drop and a launch.

Mystic Point will be home to Mystic Manor, a new take on the Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor rides. This will have a trackless system, I'm guessing something similar to the system used for Pooh's Honey Hunt in Tokyo, which sounds brilliant.

Toy Story Land will have a halfpipe coaster, and a bunch of other attractions aimed mostly at kids.

A much more detailed description, along with some concept art can be found here: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2009/06/hong-kong-disneyland-expansion-plan.html

Sounds fantastic! I love how Hong Kong Disneyland are continuing to update the classics from the other parks. They already have the best Small World, Jungle Cruise and Space Mountain (in my opinion), and the new versions of BTMR and Haunted Mansion sound amazing.

Oh WOW!!

I'm loving the modern take on age-old attractions. Grizzly Coaster looks superb in that artist rendering. No Disney park is complete without a Frontierland.

If I remember correctly, Disney recently enforced a rule that you couldn't copy attractions park-to-park anyway?

Disney are going for it out there by adding more thrilling rides, good on them tbh.

Might we worth holding off going there for a few years then.

Its good news for that park and also good news for us that they are using different ride types.

I just had a thought, if Alton were going to say they had a backwards launch they have been beaten as Disney told us first.

Cheers for the info Gavin.

Toy Story Land is the only bad thing really...

Maybe it's just me annoyed with it at Paris... Cos it looks absolute crap there, and since this one looks the same, it'll be unimpressive Disney...

The rest looks brilliant though, kinda a mix between Expedition Everest and Grizzly River Run for the first one and just an Eastern take on Haunted/Phantom for the dark ride...

I would like Disney to go back to the better way of theming their rides, as well as try and move away from making practically every ride a Pixar one... I know it makes them popular but there are just way too many coming in...

It looks quite good. Not too sure about the Toy Story area though. It needs a big attraction rather than just some flats.
I like that parachute ride. Although they're not very thrilling it looks nice and fits in with the area well. :)

The other two areas look great though. :D

I hate the Toy Story Land concept (looks really cheap and tacky), but I absolutely love the other two lands! It's great to see Disney creating new stories that aren't based on Disney/Pixar movies. :)

A Halfpipe coaster...At Disney?
They are by no means a bad ride, but in a kids area at a Disney park? Ugh.

What? There is no Toy Story Land in Paris, only the Buzz ride which I personally thought was fantastic.

^The one they are building in WDS behind the Tram Tour...

Unless it has been cancelled, I don't pay much attention to DLP often... John'll know...

The article doesn't say the launch will be backwards, so Alton might not have been beaten to it (if that even is the gimmick at Alton).

I do indeed :D

The plan for the WDS in Paris is pretty much the same, opens next year. They still haven't released details or concept artwork. According to a very very reliable source it will be pretty much the same layout but the parachute drop and half-pipe will be the opposite way round. Apparently the WDS version will be greener (whatever that means) and instead of a bloomin' giant Woody (the character, not a coaster :p) at the entrance they will have a stupidly huge Buzz Lightyear :(

I really don't like the whole Toy Story playground area in either park. It is tacky rubbish which is the opposite to what we all know and love about Disney parks. WTH are they thinking at WDI? All these Toy Story attractions at all the resorts are really annoying.

On the other hand, the other two new lands look absolutely amazing, especially the Frontierland-inspired area. Absolutely fantastic news for Hong Kong Disneyland.

Do you know what, I like the idea of having a toy story themed area. I mean disneyland is a place for the younger people and many love toy story so i think it will work. Even some of the older people like toy story including myself so i think disney can pull it off.
Obviously it wouldnt work at a place like Universal, but disney has a completly different target market and tbh, I think it will do very well =).
Agree with everybody else though, the other 2 areas look amazing, I particually like the look of that Mystic one =D.

Don't forget they're making this Toy Story area at this time as they're re-releasing Toy Story 1 & 2 in the cinemas in 3D and then they're bringing out the third Toy Story film.

I would have thought though Disney would have learnt about slow through put rides, oh well.

At least there will be one to go on lol.

A lot of concept artwork for Mystic Manor, the newest incarnation of the Haunted Mansion rides has appeared, and it looks **** ing AMAZING!

It's completely different from any of the others, sharing elements of the story from Disney Sea's Tower of Terror, and using the same ride technology as Pooh's Honey Hunt in Tokyo, one of the best dark rides ever.
