Bellewaerde Park | Huracan | Zierer Force

So, as mentioned in the other thread, Bellewaerde Park (Ieper, Belgium) is finally getting a new cred after only 29 years.

http://www.rcdb.com/10979.htm

Its going to be a custom Zierer coaster, and its going to replace their 'Los Piratas' dark ride - which is a shame really. The dark ride may not have been that great (clone of Pirate Adventure - Drayton), but for a small park like Bellewaerde, it was probably considered one of their major rides, and they dont have many of them.

And for those who dont know, its only around a 40 minute drive from Calais.

Re: Bellewaerde Park | "Unknown" | Zierer

The dark ride has been gutted already:

Re: Bellewaerde Park | "Unknown" | Zierer

Finally!

I'll be interested in the development of this ride:
-Are they eradicating the building too therefore making it a dark ride? (I hope so)
-And what about the layout? Will it be a conventional zierer force 190 with a few extra curves? Or will the ride possess a decent height and drop?

Re: Bellewaerde Park | "Unknown" | Zierer Force

This could be interesting. It's listed as a custom force model of which there are only 2.
One is huge and one is tiny/indoors although the big one in SA does look amazing.

Pity its the new one is only a little over half the size.

The height actually puts it smaller than the Force 5's at Legoland Germany and Malaysia but higher than the Force 3 at Sea World Orlando so It could be interesting but I'm not holding out for anything amazing.

Re: Bellewaerde Park | "Unknown" | Zierer Force

I imagine that they're going to focus this on more of a dark ride than coaster (well I hope so anyway, other wise it's just a cred in a shed).

Re: Bellewaerde Park | "Unknown" | Zierer Force

^Agreed, if I'm honest I doubt we'll be seeing anything superlative to standard (small) zierer force, with a few extra turns. I expect the theming will be the crux of the ride...but we can hope!

Maybe they might extend and heighten the building slightly, so we that there might be more than solely a "cred in a shed".

Today, Bellewaerde Park released the very first trailer for their new rollercoaster: Huracan!

Concept-art for the entrance

Looks pretty neat, and at least they are giving a theme.

Even though it's only 45mins from Calais, I still don't think it's enough to get me back there.

Couple more images posted by the park

I am actually really looking forward to riding this considering how good Polar X-Plorer was!

Just seen another picture on TT showing what the train may look like:

And some stats:

Height: 15 m
Length: 500 m
Speed: 50 kph
Forces: 4G positive

Bellewaerde has also released the background story and concept for the rollercoaster in their press release!

With the name Huracan, Bellewaerde Park will be close to the Mayan-theme for this family rollercoaster. A long, long time ago, the Maya's locked up Huracan, God of wind, storm and fire in a hidden temple. It was their idea of protecting their progency for the destructive forces of Huracan. Starting from March 31st 2013, visitors will be able to bring Huracan a visit. But Huracan is an insidious God and will try to keep visitors inside his temple for eternity. Together with a two headed snake, visitors will try to get through every twist and turn to get out. But before they can do that, they will have to face the swirling water, destructive fire and stormy winds, send to them by this awefull god Huracan!

With that track in place the building looks tiny. I do hope it has a dark-ride section, that would be great.
