Looks like Starliner will return to Panama City Beach in Florida. In the last five years of operation, Miracle Strip at Pier Park has been so successful that its owners are looking to expand & bring back even more of the attractions from the original Miracle Strip Amusement Park, which operated on the beach from 1964 to 2004. The park has no room for expansion & although the project is still in the planning stages, the owners hope to move their 11 current rides to a bigger space by next year & have the Starliner up and running by 2015.
Panama City Beach is located near Pensacola in Western Florida & the closest parks are Waterville USA in Gulf Shores, Alabama (100 miles) & Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia (150 miles), so it's a bit out of the way. Still it's always nice when a classic coaster can be restored back to working order & its original location, especially since it looked to be gone for good when Cypress Gardens was turned into Legoland.
I hope they are able to restore it to its former glory, including entering the mouth of a dragon into a strobe light flashing tunnel.

Some decent airtime right there.

Re: Starliner at Panama City Beach to return in 2015

I got the cred at Cypress Gardens & it didn't look nearly as sexy.

Re: Starliner at Panama City Beach to return in 2015

I'm shocked anyone can rebuild that after the pictures were posted with regards to how Merlin took it down. It looked like someone had cut it up for firewood.

Tried to ride it at Cypress Gardens but when we got there they informed us all the rides were going to be closed so we got our money back and left.

Re: Starliner at Panama City Beach to return in 2015

Got it at Cypress too :p
If they do indeed rebuild it... It'll once again come Florida's "oldest" coaster, taking it away from the current oldest, SPACE MOUNTAIN!

I visited the Miracle Strip Pier Park last summer and rode the Ferris Wheel and SeaDragon, nice little place. Glad to see it grow (now if only they can just build something where the old park once was... kinda sad just seeing a empty lot with battle scars from the park that once was)

Fantastic news. SO glad to hear that it didn't just get scrapped and thrown away.

RCDB has Starliner returning in 2014 and it's also showing that the old Super Screamer from Adventureland in Iowa is being brought back to life. It's just a Galaxi, but it's always nice to get an extra cred. :)

Haven't seen any updates on Starliner, but RipTide (formerly Super Screamer at Adventureland) installation has begun.

Miracle Strip @ Pier Park has released this park map. Starliner hasn't been drawn in yet, but it does show where the coaster will be built.

Hooray for relocated creds!!!

In all seriousness the oldest Florida coaster is a fine ride and deserves to live on. The panhandle combined with Gulf Shores is turning into quite the random woody location.

RipTide is construction looks to be completed on schedule and will open the first week of May.

I actually like them. Unique theming on those, I just don't think it'll look good with the coaster colors.

I could've sworn I've seen that before, but that does not look like ANYTHING even resembling a GCI. The old Arrow-esque hills, unbanked turns, and awful profiling. I don't see this getting built anytime soon.
