Paultons Park - 1st August 2026

Hyper Poster
It’s time for my second new to me theme park for 2026, and this time it’s Paultons Park, for both me and @TalTheMajestic. Arriving into the carpark you are greeted with nice views of Valgard and the Lost Kingdom.

We arrived at 9:20, and walked round to the entrance plaza, it looks really nice and makes a decent change from the Merlin entrances.
The goal of the today was obtaining all of the Paultons coaster credits for my coaster count to hit 82 and for Tal’s count to hit 69.

At 10am when they allowed us out of the hold gardens, we first went over to Farmyard Flyer, but as this was closed we started our day on the first public train of the day Storm Chaser which has a very fun layout, and was my first time experiencing a Mack Spinning coaster.
We then headed over to Cat-O-Pillar coaster on the third from last row and we were pleasantly surprised by the airtime off the first drop, this coaster also had a lovely themed train.

On our way back into Tornado Springs we stopped to get a photo with the Back To The Future DeLorean Time Machine that was promoting the touring production of the BTTF Musical.

We then did the third new to us credit Farmyard Flyer and got a backrow ride. Having ridden the mirrored image Chase’s Mountain Mission earlier this season, I was surprised by how poorly Flyer was running in certain sections of the layout. Tal then wanted to do Cyclinator, so we split up and during that time I managed to ride Storm Chase twice in a row, first of these was on the Front Row in the station and going up the lifthill, and the second was on the backrow in the station and up the lifthill, when I got off, I noticed that Tal had finally managed to board their ride, so I did a second back row ride on the Farmyard Flyer, by the time that cycle was finished they were done with riding their cycle of Cyclinator.

During which Tal suffered from overheating in the sun while waiting on the gondola for the Cyclinator to be loaded as it was only being ran by one op, no host, so our next stop was to first aid, once at first aid they were able to lay down, and got given a full service and once over by one of Paultons Nurses, after a 25 minute lay down break in their first aid we slowly headed over to the Lost Kingdom to ride Flight of the Pterosaur. A good suspended coaster that was a lot of fun and had nice scenic interaction, and was smooth. Tal then had a ride on the Wave Swinger.

Then we headed for Dino Chase, for my 78th coaster credit, short but a lot of fun, and felt more smoother than Farmyard Flyer, we then had another ride on Dino Chase and had a front row ride. Another train with an excellent design.

Then we headed to what we are calling “we have VelociCoaster at home”, fun layout, I preferred the pacing and layout of Velociraptor over Accelerator at Drayton Manor, but do wish they were running an extra host position, the solo operator was doing a good job at speedy operations.

Now it was time for my 80th credit, which was Drakon, which has become my favourite UK EuroFighter. Such a fun layout and the smoothest of the 3 EuroFighters I’ve ridden. The stall was fab, the theming was on point.

We headed over to Edge, now I know the discourse around whether or not the Zamperla Disk’O Coasters actual credits. Personally I have always felt that if they have the airtime hill, they feel more like a powered shuttle coaster, rather than a flat ride like for example Autumn’s Riding Adventure or Kong at Legoland Windsor or West Midlands Safari Park respectively.
We then headed to the final new to me coaster which was Raven, the rethemed Cobra, this coaster is really enhanced by the theming and on our first cycle we got a interaction with Drakon that also elevated the experience.

Then I had another ride on Drakon while Tal did the Vild Swing, this time I was on the other side on the other car that they were running which definitely felt a bit more shaky than the first ride, but still a lot smoother than Saw and Rage.

We broke for lunch and we both had Paninis in the Wild Forest Restaurant. Tal then did Ghostly Manor while I got two more rides done on Storm Chaser, they then joined me for another ride before we headed back over to the Cat-O-Pillar coaster for our second ride.

Then we headed back over to Lost Kingdom, on route we bumped into my friend who works at Paulton’s. We then had another ride on Velociraptor and Flight Of The Pterosaur. After that we rode Dino Tour which was recommended by my friend as a hidden gem of the Lost Kingdom area that is easy to miss when just focusing on the coasters. The ride itself had excellent theming and some nice animatronics. It had a nice feel about it and I can see why they recommended it to us.

We then finished the day with a final ride on Raven and a final ride on Drakon. I decided that we should do it as an eyes closed challenge because we were sitting in the backrow. I regretted that decision quite quickly! I head banged the restraints multiple times during the ride.

Overall the park is well kept, the staff we encountered all seemed passionate and friendly. The theming in the park is really good, and is a lot better than some of Merlin’s efforts of theming, the queues appeared to often be between 5 to 10 minutes for the coasters. The longest queue time we saw was Drakon for 25 minutes. I will be going to this park again and dragging my Coaster Mum with me. She will ride most of the credits in the park. I will also be looking forward to returning next season for Serpent’s Curse. The layout looks impressive with some nice airtime forces. I however cannot stand water rides in general, but a coaster cred is a cred, and so will end up having to ride it once for my coaster count.
