Phantasialand 2025 Additions

I have to admit that I am not quite convinced. To be fair, the Phantasialand interpretation of the fantasy-style was never my cup of tea to begin with, but this just looks so artifical. Most material used is simply concrete that is made to look like something else, combined with extremely bright colours.
Even most of the roof is made out of concrete, which just looks off to me.

Maybe I have to see this one in person to appreciate it.

The play area will fade over time, removing one of my criticisms from that. Look at the first images of Klugheim, that area used to pop as well. But the interior will likely remain as vibrant as it is right now.

Same source now has the poster from outside.

I sense there has been some mistranslation on the previous claim of "world's first" and it's simply referring to the premier of an exclusive new film.

Actually as a German native speaker I would say they do not only announce a new movie but a new type of attraction in general. But you never know with the parks and their records and novelties.
 
There was a preview yesterday for the parks owner and a few of his guests. So opening appears to be imminent.

The new SFX motion seats in the cinema are custom stylised and feature the Resident Theatre logo.

While the queue features some Easter eggs for previous PHL media attractions like Pirates 4D and the old simulator Galaxy. Also some Maus au Chocolat references.

Despite it not really being a "worlds first", I must admit it does look like a great upgrade on what was once there and another solid addition for the younger audience in the park. This has got me thinking though...

A lot of Phantasialand's latest additions have all been family/children orientated (Africa trail, Avoras, small play area in D.I.A, and the latest 'wavy battle' in the Fantasy area. Whilst all of these small additions have been excellent and added even more charm to this already amazing park, I'm starting to think it might soon be time for them to invest in a major new family/thrill attraction again. Rookburgh & F.L.Y. opened up just over 5 years ago, and I can't help but feel that Phantasialand is now due another BIG attraction very soon 👀

Have they got the space for it?

Also I remember reading on these forums about them trying to acquire land next to the theme park to build a waterpark.. whats going on with that.

Yes they are/were trying to do that, but the neighbours are against those plans.
I don't know if those plans are fully cancelled or if they are stored, to be resurrected later

They needed State approval to acquire the land, and then local Brühl council approval for the planning permission.
The council had been on-board for years but the State not. Then the state finally agreed to sell the land to the park in 2023, however by that time the political parties in power in the council changed and were anti-expansion. So despite overcoming that great State hurdle things had stalled.

There was a new election just a few weeks ago with a pro PHL party coming out on top, although they will need to form a coalition to have a voting majority, so it remains to be seen if the new council next year will finally allow planning approval to progress. But things are potentially looking good.
 
A planning approval process is to be initiated for the potential expansion of Phantasialand. "The moratorium in this regard has now ended," explains Schumacher. Köllejan emphasizes that the planning process is open-ended and considers the consequences of surface sealing during heavy rainfall, traffic problems, and visitor parking in residential areas, as well as examining the preservation of the duck pond. The coalition partners declare an eastward expansion at the expense of the allotment gardens to be out of the question. A roundtable discussion will give local residents a voice. "There might also be another mediation process. Phantasialand should definitely have planning certainty within the next five years," says Köllejan.
