As some of you already know, I have recently been on a short trip to a bunch of smaller parks in northern Europe, with some German Fairs and some more well known parks thrown into the mix. Before the actual trip the whole family went on a weekend to Öland, which is the second largest island of Sweden and that is well known for it's nature (or something...), and it's the place where this trip report actually starts...

Index:
Day 0:
Family pre-trip with some extra credits...

Day 1:
Part Uno - One of the crappiest park in Sweden...
Part Due - Could this be worse??

Day 2:
Ichiban - Curses...
Niiban - Olympia Looping love!!

Day 3:
Blandness benchmark and BONUS!!
Kirmes time again!!

Day 4:
Massive GCI update, with DRAGONS!!

Day 5:
Back to the random crap again...
Friday the thirteenth strikes again!!

Day 6:
Riding with deaf mutes is awesome!!!

Ok here goes...

Day 0, or as it really should be day -1 and 0.
We all went on a short weekend drive to Öland which is located on the other side of Sweden from where we live. On the way there we visited our uncle at a "antique" engine show (which actually was the main reason why we went), and going to Öland was pretty natural since most of us hadn't been there before...
Luckily enough for me I knew that there was a few credits there that I haven't ridden at the time, so I had an excuse to leave my parents and get some new credits while they went on a rock pile (aka. old buildings) sightseeing :)

I expected the place to be a bit crappy by what I have herd of it before I got there, and the entrance fee seemed like a rip-off to what I knew was available, but that changed when we got in...

Dag1_01.jpg

The main reason for this weekend trip was the motor show, they had a lot of stuff that made a great noise, most of the engines were 50+ years old, some a lot older than that.

Dag1_07.jpg

The insanely long bridge between Mainland Sweden and Öland

Dag1_02.jpg

First things first, before we went to the park we made a mandatory tourist stop at the southern lighthouse, Long Jan

Dag1_03.jpg

But beware there was a lot of animals on the road

Dag1_04.jpg

The old Swedish kings really know how to show off, like this wall that stretch right across the southern tip of Öland

Dag1_05.jpg

Finally it's time for some new credits!!

Dag1_06.jpg

Dag1_84.jpg

Bye Ölands Djur och Nöjespark for this time!!

Why is the park so dead in August?

My guess would be that it's too little tourist in the area, which this park need since there isn't enough people living there to fully support a park this size (which can be seen in the operating dates for the park, middle of May to last of August, only Liseberg and Gröna Lund are open longer in the year).
The reason why there is so little tourist there could be due to the fact that it's the end/close to the end of the vacation periods for the parents and the weather haven't been that great in August.
Could also be that we went there for a couple of hours just when they opened for the day :)

WOW!
So bad that it's good!
I don't know really where to begin...
Camel humps just look sad.
Tiger train is
icon_censored.gif
ing awesome!
Mammoth on rooftop? WTF!?!
Monkey/leopard coaster cars <3
Huge shark to scare little ones on kiddie boat ride. LOL!
Nautical Jets - WANT!!
Creepy hot dog guy is creepy...
Bunnies = LUNCH
Nom!

Wow, it's like Knowesly Safari Park, only done in an odd Viking manner, rather than Scouse!

I do love all the random fibre glass "theming" LOL!

Bunnies FTW though! :)

^^^ More of that later :D

^^ LOL

^ I discovered that there are several parks like those in Sweden...

Here comes the first park of the first day of the real trip to Europe. On this day we had planned to do 2 parks before we arrived at our hotel in southern Sweden that evening. So this was a pretty quick stop, mainly since we didn't really dare to ride anything apart from the coaster they had. I mean most of the rides at these small places are rented from Axels Tivoli, which is a company that runs most of the traveling attractions here in Sweden (same company that ran the rides on the random fair that I visited in northern Sweden a couple of years ago). I mean most of the press about this company usually features deaths, electrocutions and other injuries...
They have some killer Waltzers though :p

It's more of the same as the day before, crappy rides and more animals...

Dag1_1_02.jpg

Welcome to FUN CITY!!

Dag1_1_01.jpg

They have a free bus going between the local camp grounds and the park, it even goes to Ullared <3

Dag1_1_03.jpg

I don't know really, they were setting it up when we got there and still weren't finished when we left...

Dag1_1_04.jpg

WTF??

Dag1_1_05.jpg

Obligatory obstacle course

Dag1_1_06.jpg

Some attractions looks stationary

Dag1_1_08.jpg

While others just look plonked down the same morning

Dag1_1_07.jpg

Mini Golf...

Dag1_1_09.jpg

More camels

Dag1_1_10.jpg

I spy coaster

Dag1_1_11.jpg

I have ridden a bungy ball, but this looks insane

Dag1_1_12.jpg

It were supposedly to launch you from 0-200 in 3 seconds, but I don't think that the physics really supported that...

Dag1_1_15.jpg

Only coaster in the park

Dag1_1_13.jpg

It's called Ragnarök, which is the end of the earth

Dag1_1_14.jpg

Fortunately for us, it was pretty decent, I would even rank it over the Reverchon equivalence

Dag1_1_16.jpg

They had some floating hamster balls

Dag1_1_17.jpg

Which this girl was pretty crappy at, I don't think that she stood up for more than a few seconds :)

Dag1_1_18.jpg

It didn't open until later, but I don't think that I would have ridden it then

Dag1_1_19.jpg

The Pig says Nöff

Dag1_1_20.jpg

No Edgar here :(

Dag1_1_21.jpg

Hmmm, do these goats play don't touch the ground??

Dag1_1_22.jpg

Oh, deer, no it rains...

Dag1_1_23.jpg

This one have the most awesome antlers I have ever seen

Dag1_1_24.jpg

These are the real deer

Dag1_1_25.jpg

Dag1_1_27.jpg

Obligatory water park

Dag1_1_26.jpg

More water park with random dude at the top

Dag1_1_28.jpg

Dag1_1_29.jpg

Warning they might shoot of your hand

Dag1_1_30.jpg

That was it really

Dag1_1_35.jpg

W00t!! Hidden alpine slide

Dag1_1_31.jpg

Completely self operated :)

Dag1_1_32.jpg

First you have to drag your sled to the top of the hill

Dag1_1_33.jpg

Until you can see the underwear of the man

Dag1_1_34.jpg

And then you just go like crazy, it was completely insane, and would most likely not work in North America or the UK...

Dag1_1_36.jpg

This place sounded like an awesome Trance Club, but it's only a Bull Riding machine

Dag1_1_37.jpg

More random rides

Dag1_1_38.jpg

Swinging ship again, with "haunted" walk through

Dag1_1_39.jpg

Coaster again

Dag1_1_40.jpg

Bye bye Fun City, I won't be back in a hurry...

Tomorrow it's time for the next place with Axels Tivoli :p

I'm trying to comprehend that sideways bungee ball thing. What on earth... 0-200 in 3 seconds? That's 120mph! Who makes them, anyway?

^ That speed is, as I said in the report, very over estimated. According to the info found on the Manufacturer page I would assume that the top speed it more like 50 mph or something, it's physically impossible to reach 120 mph in that short stretch with the forces they have posted, especially with bungees alone...

More info about the attraction can be found at: http://www.technicalpark.com/formula_one.htm

We decided to check in to the hotel before we headed for the last park for the day, which was only a few kilometers away.
Malmö Folkets park is no way near to what the other inner city parks in northern Europe, especially when you compare it to the likes of Liseberg, Gröna Lund, Tivoli Gardens or Linnanmäki. I wouldn't even stretch it as far to compare it to Tivoli Friheden or Karolinelund, since even those are better than this place. Most of the attractions are again from Axels Tivoli which again means that they are potential death traps, which my brother found out on one of the rides. Still it had a killer Waltzer <3

Picture time...

Dag1_2_20.jpg

Welcome to Malmö Folkets Park

Dag1_2_01.jpg

This Observation wheel was put up with little fuss compared to the one in Gothenburg

Dag1_2_02.jpg

Dag1_2_12.jpg

What does that sign say...

Dag1_2_13.jpg

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure that the new wheel in Gothenburg is taller then this...

Dag1_2_15.jpg

Artsy photo of a dangerous ride

Dag1_2_07.jpg

Before we left to get another MAX credit we stopped by for some BJ

Dag1_2_17.jpg

Bye bye I won't miss you either

Dag1_2_18.jpg

Some artsy fountain

Dag1_2_19.jpg

Main entrance or is it the main exit???

Dag1_2_21.jpg

Awww :p

That's it for the first day, tomorrow it's time for a great 3:rd visit at an awesome park :)

The second day we started on the journey through Denmark into Germany, this took longer than we first anticipated which caused us to arrive a little late, even though it didn't matter. Anyway, we arrived shortly after opening at Hansa Park loaded with fresh non-Swedish wine gums <3 from the ferry. The only reason why we went there was to experience Fluch von Novgorod that have been completed since the last time we were there...

I think that several people agree with me that FvN is a really great coaster, even without all the themeing, but now with everything finally put together it's a whole new beast :)
The remodeled hill into the station is another great improvement for us guys at least :p

Dag2_1_01.jpg

I spy a former Legoland

Dag2_1_73.jpg

Recently with a complete facelift of the whole entrance

The Two towers

Dag2_1_58.jpg

Nessie action

Dag2_1_70.jpg

Is this the manager or just some random guy on the parade??

Dag2_1_71.jpg

Nessie says good bye for this time.

So we left a bit early, but there is a good reason for that....

Hansa Park <3

I love trip reports like this, little random credit runs always let you discover strange little parks you otherwise would never think of going to really.

Also, more bunnies =]

I was wondering what they were going to do with those scarecrows after they removed from inside the station. Glad they put them to good use.
So how was the coaster with the new tracking & themeing?

The ride is exactly the same as last year, except for the hill into the station which is a lot gentler on both the forces and gentlemen area parts :)
The themeing on the other hand have been improved a lot with several animatronics, 3d projectors, normal projectors, water, sounds, etc. So to sum that up a lot better in the themeing area with many interesting surprises along the way, even though it lost a bit after 2-3 goes.
The only thing I would complain about is that the spoken lines in the story of the themeing was a bit hard to hear clearly...

After Hansa Park we headed for one other most anticipated stops of this trip, Hamburger SommerDom. Hamburg host this large fair 3 times every year, spring, summer and winter, and they keep it running for one month each time, so there is plenty of time to visit it, and I would think that's the reason why there was so little people there when we were there, sure we didn't go on a weekend but still. The only new credit for us there was the Wilde Maus, but the main attraction was of course Olympia Looping <3

Olympia Looping is easily the best transportable coaster out there, super smooth, fast and have lot's of nice forces to give you an experience that rival a lot of modern day looper's all over the world. Sure the restraints are a bit whack, but you can easily get used to them when you figure out how to strap yourself in them. The other great thing about this coaster it the way the run it. I mean 5-8 ops are checking the restraints :) how many parks do that?? even when running with a single train they hauled ass re-loading the train keeping the queue to a minimum.

Dag2_2_01.jpg

W00t, we are almost there

Dag2_2_02.jpg

Kirmes no.1 here we come!!

^ Great stuff, that's was a lot better than the info we found that day...
