Space Invaders 2 Sold Off to Brean Leisure Park

Good find! Very interesting too. I think BPB area bit silly for selling this coaster, as it's the only one there which is more than just track, and obviously they will only be selling the track, which means that they'll have loads of aliens and spaceships and stuff going to waste.

As for Brean getting it, that's a shame. It'll just be barebone track there, but oh well.

That was one of BPB's best rides... :(

Even though I yawned everytime going around Space Invader, it was probally one of this countries best dark coasters... not a good move. No motive to go back to the pleasure beach currently with closures/removals and just crap. Everything good about the place is off down the shi_ter.

^Same, it's the only coaster at Blackpool I actually enjoyed. I only ever got to ride it once too :(

It's a shame Brean won't theme it but at least they are building their ride collection. It's a park that should be terrible but you can tell that they are willing to improve...just look at that ghost train!

Well at least SI will re-open!

Sue, you know the only thing Blackpool will put in its place is fountains hehe =D

Have they still got the pub that was underneath the ride still?

I shall continue the "Space Invader was a good ride" train of thought as well... A shame, especially as Tom Baker opened it originally <3

Yay! Was worried it'd get thrown out. I need the cred.

Main problem is that it'll involve a 3rd visit of my lifetime o the **** -tip that is Brean... and no one deserves that. However, on the plus side, there's a HELL of a lot of cider shops round that way. A barrel of Cheddar Valley, anyone?

I needed the credit too, so I can't comment on experience or whether it made Blackpool what it is today...a **** hole. But as I still haven't ventured to Brean, an additional credit only makes a trip a bit more likely.

I have no intentions of going back to PBB, unless there is a Live of course, but I think Blackpool will go all out in putting a replacement attraction in its place: Not just the biggest water fountain, but also a massive water fall with coloured lights and a spectacular dance on the hour, every hour! ;)

I quite enjoyed it. It wasn't a brilliant coaster, it was just enjoyable, very smooth, and just good fun.

It was my BPB evening coaster. During the day, every other coaster would have 10minute queue, yet this thing would be about 90mins. So I always had to wait about an hour before closing to whore it.

Definitely the UK's best indoors coaster and it ALWAYS had a queue. At any other park you'd conclude they must be planning something for that space, but since it's Blackpool we'll put it down to Amanda's brain farting. I can't see that pub under it going too... So what the hell would they put there? Plus Zipper Dipper is going to have to close to take the building down.

Sillyness.

I am pleased that its going to a park that will actually run a working coaster.

I enjoyed the day we had a Brean after the Oakwood live and would go back if I was passing.

I do not think anything will go where it was, they have just made some money from selling a coaster does not mean that the money will be invested back to the park. It will probably be used to pay off their debts that people keep on about. It probably did not even sell for that much anyway, its an old coaster that has not been used in how long?

With all the talk about Beaver's Crack getting a revamp, there's a possibility of that area expanding where SPII once sat. Or a new fountain will go in it's place, and I suggest they call it the Andy Hine MBE Fountain and it can foutainate cheese, not water.

(And before anybody moans, I've met Andy Hinembe and I liked him, but I did find him cheesy.)

As long as you don't catch the ride's "lunch break".

After all the years I went to Blackpool I never went on Space Invader and I doubt I will be going to Brean again. It's good to see it going somewhere rather than just rusting away.

If the rumour about Beaver Creek is true, we could well see all that building, including the pub, come down.

There must be a reason for them to sell it?

Nothing to do with fountains, its been sold simply because PB dont want it anymore. Its better in another park rather than sat at PB festering and collecting dust.

Regards BC, expect big changes in that area from how it is now, when you return to PB in 2011.
