After the decision of going to Thorpe Park for my girlfriends birthday, I had some serious doubts. It fell on a saturday, which also happened to be a bank holiday, so I was beginning to think is it even worth it. Well I can say it was a disappointing trip to say the least, I'm never going to Thorpe Park on a busy day again...
After the 2.5 hour drive we arrived at Thorpe Park around 9:45AM. Beautiful grey skies shadowed us, plenty of cars to dodge on the way to the entrance, we're finally here! So we waited through the long cattlepenned queue to buy our pricey tickets, thankfully split in half with 2-for-1 vouchers from the back of Hula-Hoops. And went straight through to the park. We also saw the tank by the bridge, it's a nice touch!
We started the day a little differently this time (I usually ride Nemesis: Inferno first) and went for Depth Charge because the lack of queue, it's also my first time riding the thing.

It provided a nice start to the day, but held nothing special. Just a generic water slide to me. Pretty fun!
_______
We then headed to Saw: The Ride to get that out of the way...

Such a waste of our time, it broke down about 4 times which was making an already massive queue a lot longer. We kept giving it chances, but eventually gave up after 50 minutes and went elsewhere. Never seen Saw: The Ride with such bad reliability since opening day!
_______
We headed towards Nemesis: Inferno this time, but became drawn to Slammer with it's near walk-on queueline. This is also my first time riding this, after hearing mixed reviews about it I've always became weary...

I didn't enjoy this ride one bit. Probably one of the most uncomfortable ride experiences I've ever come across. There's nothing relatively enjoyable about being tipped upside down like this, it was just too intense. And the shoulder restraints didn't help either, crushing me, and giving me incredible cramping pains throughout and after riding. Just a bad ride.

It was approaching lunch time so we decided to grab a KFC, and we saw Tidal Wave was about to open up so we planned to ride that.

I'll be honest, this is one of my least favourite water rides, I normally ride this to fill some time after lunch. It wasn't too bad saturday, I think it's because the sun decided to come out and I managed to catch a nice view of The Swarm's construction site. I didn't realize how massive that site was! Then there was the drop that does completely nothing, and the great wall of water which gets you ridiculously wet, such a great sight to see though!
_______
After Tidal Wave we coughed up a couple of quid to dry off, and headed over to Stealth.

I'm quite a fan of Stealth, I find it much better than Rita personally! The queue didn't surprise me, but managed to keep myself occupied watching Stealth and glancing through the trees at construction. We got to the back of Stealth, and it absolutely delivered! The launch was breathtaking as usual, and it felt a lot faster, plus I got two nice pops of airtime! Shame there wasn't more to the ride, it's such a rush!
_______
Talking about rush, we headed straight over to ride my favourite attraction at Thorpe!

Probably my favourite flat ride of all time next to Maelstrom, it's rare that I prefer a ride like this over the rollercoasters of the park. Such good fun, and give the lapbar a little slack it's definately the air-time machine of Thorpe! Great ride! Shame for such a short cycle...

We decided to head over to Saw: The Ride, to finally get that out of the way!

It definately wasn't as good as I remembered it 2 years ago, but it's still generally a good rollercoaster! Pretty much all the effects were broke, the indoor drop was great, the inline provided some nice hang-time, the outdoor section was pretty forceful, the air-time hill was good, and the final drop/dive loop was ferocious! Wasn't disappointed, yet, I wasn't particularly over-whelmed.
_______
It was just after 5PM so we decided for one final ride on Rush, then headed home.
Overall:
Rollercoasters: 6/10
Other attractions: 6/10
Reliability/Queue's: 3/10
Theming: 6/10
Value: 5/10
Verdict: 5/10
Ride count:
Depth Charge x1
Slammer x1
Tidal Wave x1
Stealth x1
Rush x2
Saw: The Ride x1
Best attractions of the day: Stealth, Rush.
Final word: Bloody saturdays!
