What's new

Top 10(ish): 2024 Edition - page 124

  1. Skyrush - Hersheypark
  2. Intimidator 305 - Kings Dominion
  3. Phoenix - Knoebels
  4. Fury 325 - Carowinds
  5. Arie Force One - Fun Spot Atlanta - this is a top tier RMC in the back row, but in front it feels like a standard RMC. Excellent coaster for sure.
  6. Twisted Timbers - Kings Dominion
  7. El Toro - Six Flags Great Adventure
  8. Iron Gwazi - Busch Gardens Tampa
  9. Lightning Rod - Dollywood
  10. Phantom's Revenge - Kennywood
  11. Superman the Ride - Six Flags New England
  12. Wildcat's Revenge - Hersheypark
  13. Velocicoaster - Islands of Adventure
  14. Pantheon - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
  15. Iron Rattler - Six Flags Fiesta Texas
  16. Railblazer - California's Great America - Its definitely starting to show some wear and tear right now. It gets a slight edge over Wonder Woman for the great theming.
  17. Wonder Woman's Golden Lasso - Six Flags Fiesta Texas
  18. Ravine Flyer 2 - Waldameer
  19. Coney Island Cyclone - Luna Park
  20. Storm Chaser - Kentucky Kingdom
  21. Lightning Run - Kentucky Kingdom
  22. Storm Runner - Hersheypark
  23. GaleForce - Playland's Castaway Cove
  24. Jersey Devil - Six Flags Great Adventure
  25. The Joker - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom - rounding out my top 25, I really liked this ride. Its one of the weaker RMCs out there, but it still delivers a solid ride.

After a recent trip to Florida…

1. Iron Gwazi
2. Taron
3. Velocicoaster
4. Mako
5. F.L.Y
6. Untamed
7. Shambhala
8. Incredible Hulk
9. Red Force
10. Black Mamba

No new additions however the Incredible Hulk has moved up two spaces. It was running incredibly well this trip and was butter smooth whilst carrying some very intense moments. Also, forgot how great that first launch is!

Rode Wildcat's Revenge this weekend (as well as others) with some daytime rain rides and some night, completely dark ERT.. and MAN.. that boy pops. The airtime is next level and consistent throughout the entire ride. You can tell RMC has really been homing the flow of the newer rides as the first drop was cool but the ride just kicked after that, no matter where you sit.

1 Steel Vengeance - Cedar Point
2 Jurassic World Velocicoaster - Islands of Adventure
3 Voyage - Holiday World
4 Hyperion - Energylandia
5 Iron Gwazi - Busch Gardens Tampa
6 Wildcat's Revenge - HersheyPark
7 Fury 325 - Carowinds
8 Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce
9 Zadra - Energylandia
10 Twisted Timbers - Kings Dominion

11 Fønix - Farup Sommerland
12 SkyRush - Hersheypark
13 Batman The Ride - Six Flags Over Georgia
14 Tatsu - Six Flags Magic Mountain
15 Wonder Woman Flight of Courage - Six Flags Magic Mountain
16 Jersey Devil Coaster - Six Flags Great Adventure
17 Goliath - Six Flags Great America
18 Pantheon - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
19 Wildfire - Kolmarden
20 Outlaw Run - Silver Dollar City
21 Afterburn - Carowinds
22 Prowler - Worlds of Fun
23 Storm Chaser - Kentucky Kingdom
24 Phantom's Revenge - Kennywood
25 Mystic Timbers - Kings Island
26 Renegade - Valleyfair
27 Goliath - Six Flags Over Georgia
28 Mamba - Worlds of Fun

Hmmm, you put Hyperion before Zadra? That is pretty interesting.
Because when i've done both coasters 2 years ago, Hyperion gave me a very painfull ride, when I was in an outside seat. But the middle seats where great.
But Zadra gave awesome ride the whole day, independent from where you were sitting.

You're not the only one who felt that way. Went last year for a few days and others complained about Hyperion but I didn't have an issue front or back, wing or middle. It was a bit more bumpy on the wing but that is nearly ALL wing type setups so makes sense.

Hyperion though.. GOD tier airtime. I was shocked about how insane the ride is airtime wise. Zaddy is also amazing (hence its spot in my Top 10) but as you can tell from some of my favorites, airtime is king. Wildcat is a mini Zadra with more airtime and Gwazi is just a more airtime filled Wildcat. All elite, just something I enjoy the most hit a bit harder.

#1 Untamed - Walibi Holland
#2 Ride to Happiness - Plopsaland De Panne
#3 Helix - Liseberg
#4 Storm - The Dragon Legend - Tusenfryd

#7 Juvelen - Djurs Sommerland
#8 Cú Chulainn - Emerald Park
#9 Megafobia - Oakwood Theme Park
#10 Smiler - Alton Towers
A small, but important change has been made after a few weeks of thinking about it.

#1 Untamed
#2 Ride to Happiness
#3 Storm - The Dragon Legend (+1)
#4 Helix (-1)

#5 Piraten
#6 Balder
#7 Juvelen
#8 Cu Chulainn
#9 Megafobia
#10 Smiler

Just tell us why you made this change
Just fun. My "top of the top of the top" coasters have me screaming and shouting the whole way through the layout, my new top 3 are all in a league of their own with how well they pull that off.

I also just simply looked at my ranking, saw Helix #3, and thought "that ain't feel right". So I put Storm above, and even a few days after doing that I feel far more comfortable with the new swap. Helix's rattle is a lot more noticeable for me too, especially in the back, and that can put off rerideability a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's still an incredible ride, that's why it's #4, just I decided that Storm was more my cup of tea.

Talking about Helix is a little difficult for me. I'm not sure why it's this specific ride that I struggle to come up with words for so much. When people asked me to justify Helix over Piraten I couldn't come up with anything outside of "I just like it more mate". I waited until part 2 of my TR to say stuff about it, and even then I said a few things that I now disagree with.

Storm > Helix genuinely isn't really much more than "it's more my kind of thing" at the end of the day. It took a month to realise that, but here we are now. May not be the most satisfying answer in the world. But the lean mean green machine turns my brain to mush sometimes.

1. Steel Vengeance
2. Skyrush
3. Voyage
4. Lighthing Rod

I knew it was Top 10 after the first ride. That RMC clump with Twisted Timbers, Iron Gwazi, and Wildfire were good benchmarks for Wildcat. Velocicoaster and Ravine Flyer II are heavy gatekeepers, but after my second ride I knew it was better than Piraten.

It's been SEVERAL years since I've had two coasters from the same park in my Top 5. Probably back when I had less than 50 creds. How crazy is that.

It is curious to see the balance of Formula Rossa vs. Flying Aces love out of Ferrari World, and what gets the nod. I wonder if Americans might go harder on Formula Rossa (like myself), with a flair of nostalgia as our Intamin Accelerators gradually bite the dust. :p

Made it back to Holiday World for Halloween Weekends last Saturday, and my list needs one significant adjustment. After getting some new credits this summer, Voyage fell a couple of spots in my rankings. I was eager to see how it held up.

Well. It held up quite well. Had 6 rides on Voyage throughout the day, including my first Voyage night ride. Even with the cold, rainy weather it kept getting faster throughout the day and was absolutely HAULING by the end of the night. Is it just me, or is it riding faster after the re-tracking?

Everyone talks about how amazing Voyage is at night so I went in with high expectations, but nothing could prepare me for row 11 in the dark. Holy. F***ing. WHAT??!! From the multiple seconds of sustained airtime on the first drop, through the pitch-black triple down, to the final brakes, my mouth hung open in disbelief. I was completely stunned!

Steel Vengeance still manages to keep my top spot, but it wasn’t an easy decision. I can understand those who rank Voyage as #1.

Anyway, here’s my current list:

1. Steel Vengeance
2. Voyage (+2)
3. Iron Gwazi
4. Fury 325
5. Millennium Force
6. ArieForce One
7. Storm Chaser
8. Mystic Timbers
9. Maverick
10. Orion
11. Afterburn
12. Top Thrill Dragster
13. Montu
14. Phantom’s Revenge
15. Lightning Run

Oh why not, I'll do one now and then compare in ~1.5 months when I should have ~60 more credits between trips to Sea World San Antonio, Fiesta Texas, Over Texas and possibly Frontier City over Labor Day weekend and then the first weekend of October will be Carowinds, Six Flags Over Georgia, Fun Spot Atlanta and Dollywood.

1. Steel Vengeance
2. Voyage
3. Outlaw Run
4. Maverick
5. Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast
6. Orion
7. Millennium Force
8. Storm Chaser
9. Diamondback
10. Mamba

108 credits total for what it's worth

Whelp, 49 new credits later as I skipped Frontier City and only rode 5 new coasters at Dollywood along with a couple other closures, here is my updated top 10 or top 6.4% of my 157 credits:

1. Steel Vengeance, Cedar Point - Long live the king!
2. Fury 325, Carowinds - I tried to crack the support again but failed.
3. ArieForce One, Fun Spot Atlanta - Every element delivers and the break run tries to neuter you so that's fun too.
4. Voyage, Holiday World - It is, in fact, a voyage.
5. Outlaw Run, Silver Dollar City - Every element pops and the more woodsy feel gets me in my feelings.
6. Maverick, Cedar Point - Every force forcefully.
7. Twisted Cyclone, Six Flags Over Georgia - Did not expect this to be my 2nd favorite RMC of my southeast trip but here we are.
8. Storm Chaser, Kentucky Kingdom - After some thought, this is moved up. So powerful despite its stature.
9. Iron Rattler, Six Flags Fiesta Texas - My favorite first drop and the interaction with the quarry wall is *chef's kiss*
10. Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast, Six Flags Over Texas - Was underwhelmed by the one at Over Texas albeit still great. So I moved this down a smidge. Need to re-ride to re- evaluate.

Honorable mentions, basically anything that is a 9 or better that I'm not going to rank in order because I don't like and pretty much suck at ranking coasters!

Mamba & Prowler - Worlds of Fun
Time Traveler - Silver Dollar City
Batman - Six Flags St Louis
Monster - Adventureland
Renegade - Valleyfair!
Batman, Goliath - SF Great America
Millennium Force - Cedar Point
Orion, Banshee, Mystic Timbers and Diamondback - Kings Island
Lightning Run - Kentucky Kingdom
--- New Credits ---
Texas Stingray, Great White - SeaWorld San Antonio
Superman, Goliath - Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Afterburn, Copperhead Strike - Carowinds
Goliath, Batman - Six Flags Over Georgia
Lightning Rod, Thunderhead - Dollywood

So that includes my top 34 or 21.7% of my credits.

After much thinking, Sik at Flamingo Land was removed from my top 25 and moved to #39. Seriously.

This change adds Fønix at Fårup Sommerland to the top 25, at #25.

What made you drop Sik so dramatically, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m not judging by any means (believe me, I have similar ranking shakeups more often than you’d expect!), but I was just curious to know, as 16 spots seems like quite a significant drop. Have you re-ridden it recently or something?

It was actually a recent ride on Colossus and I realised just how similar they are. I also realised I prefer Colossus's first drop, the theming, the interactions, the general atmosphere and the station, hell even I prefer the rolls because Sik does them a little too fast too much for my taste. Colossus is also more forceful at points, notably the vertical loop and the airtime hill. Sik also just isn't rerideable for me. I got unbelievably dizzy on my one and only ride, but I can put most of that down to lack of sleep. Whereas on a good day I can ride Colossus a good few times.

Sik is still a few places above Colossus because I still enjoy the freedom of the lap bar and the mist tunnels, but it's now a much closer fight than what it was before. I can honestly see Colossus going above Sik, at some point. What I desperately need is a reride on Sik, but my desire to return to Flamingo Land isn't very high at the moment.

And with Sik's dropdown, Kumali is now my favourite ride in the park!

Being now at 250 coasters, and others are doing their top 25, I will likewise, with these being my top 10%
