Two RMC coasters closed: Recalled parts?

Re: All RMC coasters closed: Recalled parts?

[strike]Of course this happens a month before my big New England run. Let the Jarrett and Emily RMC mechanical genocide continue!

Actually I doubt this lasts more than two weeks. If it's a mechanical thing that's pretty cut and dry (unlike LR's launch electrical/computer system) so if they can correct the issue with the part and find a way to machine it that should clear this right up.[/strike]

EDIT: Driving over from Waldameer I had a thought that the only new thing RMC has added that hasn't been a success for a long time has been those new cylinders, and a post on Theme Park Insider seems to confirm I was right. There was an issue with the new hydraulic cylinders for the restraints, which have only been used on Wildfire, Lightning Rod, and Joker as of yet. Storm Chaser and anything older than 2016 don't use those cylinders (though I initially ruled out the thought thinking Chaser did, though a message from the park's Facebook confirms it can still run).

Dollywood scared us all good, haha, laugh, but the reality is that just those three coasters won't be running. Bring on the Wicked Cyclone for us!

(But you're still welcome, somehow Emily and I did this. Not sure how but it's our fault because it is.)

Re: All RMC coasters closed: Recalled parts?

Yeah, this shouldn't be too big of a problem. I was at Kentucky Kingdom yesterday and Storm Chaser was running fine (and I wasn't aware of this news until last night)... so I may have dodged a bullet. :p

Re: All RMC coasters closed: Recalled parts?

^KK messaged me on Facebook confirming that it isn't affected by this. The restraints felt just as hard to undo as Outlaw's and the new cylinders were designed partially to eliminate this problem, I'm certain it uses the old cylinders on the Six Flags ones and Outlaw and won't be affected.

Just to clarify - the only coasters affected are Lightning Rod and Wildfire. All of the other RMC coasters are operational.

This is the part that's been recalled if anybody was wondering. It's new and designed to fix certain problems the other ones might have had (namely how hard they were to open and close) but obviously something went wrong manufacturing them. Wildfire and Lightning Rod both use these, the rest use the older ones that have been in use since 2013 on Outlaw.

Quite sad, I'll probably never ride Lightning rod now, Dollywood genuinely rivals SFA and SFOG for worst park I've been to.

^Are you seriously dissing a park over one ride? Sure, it's a good ride, but just because a new ride with new technology from a manufacturer who never did anything like it before is closed doesn't mean it's an awful park. There are loads of other stuff to do.

Yeah, the rest of the park is still great and this isn't actually anything to do with them...?

Dollywood is a beautiful place, you have to enjoy it.
Dealing spite is something we all have to deal with from time to time, its just part of being an enthusiast.

I was spited by all but the indoor coaster at Toverland, did I hate the park? No. Was I a little annoyed. Yes, but that didn't affect my day or change my opinion of be place. Spite is just something we have to deal with. Get over it.

^ How did that happen? There was quite some rain around when I visited, but none of the rides were down, despite the park being basically dead.
