Your Schwarzkopf Count

Howie

Donkey in a hat
One for the Old Skool goons, this.
There are 147 Schwarzkopf coasters listed on the RCDB, but with 96 relocations it's difficult to work out how many there have actually been altogether. However, 52 of them are still operating so, simple question. How many have you ridden?
I've just massively depressed myself by creating this thread cos I haven't been on nearly as many as I thought. See, I had this notion that I was raised on Schwarzkopf coasters, that somehow they represented the 'good old days', but having totted them up it turns out I've only been on 13 of 'em... and 5 of those were in the last 12 months!
Anyway, here's my meagre list:

Alton Beast/New Beast (I'm going on the theory that they were, in fact, the same ride).
The Black Hole
ThunderLooper
Jumbo Jet (Drayton Manor)
Looping Star (Rhyl)
Scorpion (BGT)
Montezooma's Revenge
Revolution (SFMM)
Raptor Attack
Nessie (Hansa Park)
Lesbianbanana
Jetline
Olympia Looping.

Gutted that I never got to ride the 'Mingoland duo and Camelot's Knightmare. :-(

Happy bragging, people!

Death Loop, Marah Land
When did you manage to ride that? You might want to inform rcdb that their info about the coaster being SBNO since last winter is indeed incorrect. :p

As for me, I've only managed to ride 8. They are indeed a dying breed. :(
In chronological order:
Scorpion, BGT
Revolution, SFMM
Thunder Loop, Slagharen
Teststrecke, Canstatter Volksfest
Rock & Rollercoaster, Canstatter Volksfest
Alpina Bahn, Oktoberfest
Olympia Looping, Oktoberfest and Prater
Psyke Underground, Walibi Belgium

^I need the 'Death Loop' in my life!
It was a sketchy looking coaster, not helped by the two maintenance guys trying to get it open seeming like they has 1001 places they'd rather be than making sure the drive wheels and restraints were working properly. It doesn't have a connection to the grid, and relies on a series of generators to run. Not inspiring stuff when they keep randomly cutting out. They said they'd definitely open it at 17:30, and at 19:00 when they finally got it running they were very keen for me to be on the test cycle. I politely declined. ;)

In the end it was a little bit ****, albeit a reasonably interesting coaster. :D

I rode it in the middle of September 2016, so I'll let RCDB know! :p

I notice that it's on RCDB as Death Train too, that might be a typo in my spreadsheet!

Isn't that the same coaster?
Could be? RCDB doesn't have any info on what the Skyline Wildcat was prior to being purchased by the park and I don't know where's the best place to look that stuff up.
What sort of ride was that, since the only thing I can find with that name is a Huss Enterprise (that was apparently involved in a fatal accident in the mid-80s)? :)
Again, just going from memory, which seems to be failing me now. I thought it was the name of the first Katapult coaster I rode. It might have been Skyloop? I know I rode two within days of each other back in 1981 or so. One was on the weekend at the Oktoberfest and the other was later that week at the Volksfest.
I've edited my entry with the coaster type since I apparently can't remember the name correctly.

Ride-index.de seems to be a pretty good database when it comes to German fairground rides and the article on Alpen-Express says it has been sold to Skyline Park. There's also been another coaster with the same name, but that one is a Mack Blauer Enzian, which I don't suppose is the one you've had in mind?

EDIT: Ah, well. I was beaten to it by @SimonSays99 :)

Also searched the site - which is quite comprehensive in German funfair rides - but could not find any Katapult named Sky*something*
Yeah. Probably had a different name and just me thinking it had the word 'Sky' in it.
I'll check the site you linked to see if it has any info on which Katapult coaster was at the Oktoberfest and which was at the Volksfest that year.

I visited the site and realize that I actually knew about ride-index, but forgot to check it before posting my list.
Now that I have, I was able to determine that the Katapult I rode at the Oktoberfest was owned and operated by Goetzke & Merkl, while the one at the Volksfest belonged to Arnoux and both were called Katapult.
I also know why I remember the name Skylab, as the worst accident in the history of German fairs also happened that year when seven people died on the Enterprise with that name at the Hamburg Dom the month before I went to the Oktoberfest and Volksfest. Strange how the mind works when trying to remember things that happened 35 years ago.
I edited my post again to show that the first two are indeed the same coaster and my Schwarzkopf ride count now stands at 44.
And thanks @SimonSays99 & @TilenB! Without you two posting I wouldn't have gone back to check on all this. I also checked Coaster-Count and the coasters are listed there, so I added them to my count. :D

It's not great, only 22. They're dying out or are in weird places.

It's also my most spiteful manufacturer probably - Nagashima's, Slagharen's, Over Texas' - all spite.
