Don’t confuse this with the HK SP5K that Heckler & Koch dropped a couple of years back. HK developed the SP5 as a semi-automatic, civilian sporting pistol matching the look and feel of the legendary MP5 submachine gun. It meets the definition of a civilian pistol and is loaded with authentic features. From the Navy barrel with threaded tri-lug adapter, to the paddle magazine release, to the fluted chamber and chrome-lined bore, there’s much here to appease HK fans.
The heart of the SP5 remains the roller-delayed blowback operating system, which delivers accuracy, reliability and smooth shooting, according to HK. Derived from the HK G3, the operating system runs several seminal HK designs.
HK manufactures the SP5 at the company’s Oberndorf factory in Germany. It retains many of the critical elements of the MP5, including precision-machined components and attention to detail, according to HK. The SP5 comes from the same factory and off the same lines as the MP5.
The SP5 also comes with an elastic “bungee” sling for comfortable shooting. The sling installs easily by snapping onto sling swivel hardware located rear of the receiver. Using the sling makes firing the SP5 more stable and reduces fatigue, according to HK.
The SP5 has an MSRP of $2,799. The For more information, visit HK-USA.com.
