Six Flags Over Texas | Tormenta | B&M Dive Coaster | 2026

Unfortunately these days you just can't rely on that anymore, no matter what the park.
Thankfully "relying" wasn't quite how it was shaping up - but would have been nice nonetheless. :P

As an aside, why is it that American parks have taken to opening things so late in the season? We’re nearly at the end of June, and it seems like very few of the big 2026 rides in America have opened.

I thought Memorial Day (?) weekend at the end of May was where the US parks traditionally aimed to open new rides, to coincide with the beginning of the peak summer season?

I mean back in the 90s/00s most Parks here would have had their stuff ready for the parks opening day, if they were seasonal parks and if not, Memorial Day by the latest!...now its this whole, we'll say it's for year X but actually open it year Y, and pretty much F the fans and locals/passholders..... I'll be there July 6th and I'm hoping for some sort of 4th of July opening miracle, but honestly at this point I see it just being a 2027 addition

(Ala, Flash, Quantum, Tron, ice breaker, Family Kingdom Raptor...basically anything post covid)

Downside of late stage capitalism where one firm owns all the parks. What are you going to do, go to another Six Flags park??

Six Flags has ALWAYS been this way, for as long as I can remember. I do NOT know why they do this. They have been installing hundreds of rides at dozens of parks for DECADES and they still manage to push things back all the time.

It's like those fake reality TV shows where they are building a house, and for some reason everything is rushed rushed rushed at the end. It's not the ideal way to have an install, and it is beyond annoying. I don't ever plan a vacation around Six Flags attractions during their opening season, because it's just asking to be dissapointed.

There is a reason Disney/Universal typically have the ride ready months before an opening date, and fine tune things during those months so when they set a date, it's typically ready.

Does anyone know why it's delayed though?

Is it the actual ride or are we just waiting on them to finish pouring a sea of concrete over everything they pulled out instead of actually, you know, developing the area?
