Six Flags Over Georgia Goliath Incident (12-Oct-2026)

Magic-Man

Mega Poster
Six Flags Over Georgia has closed early. Police dispatch has reported someone fell off Goliath. Three people involved. Will update as information becomes available.

This is terrible. Sounds like restraint failure as people reporting seeing the restraint open as it pulled back into the station.

Not sure how that is even possible.

Sounds pretty awful. Thoughts go out to all involved.

Park has obviously closed, and all B&M Hypers across the chain have now closed too.

I can almost guaran-freakin'-tee that no restraint "popped open." There are reduncencies put in place on most especially B&M restraints. It just. Doesn't. Happen.

Unconfirmed but sounds like this gentleman was denied access on every other ride except this one, and should not have been on the ride. This is a New Texas Giant/Intamin Superman hyper situation all over again.

Avoidable by all means, but absolutely terrible.

So, I'm not going to post the photo here.....but the incident actually occurred where the on-ride photo is taken ....and it did indeed catch the man falling. It's not graphic, but it is pretty shocking to see his body roll over the seats behind his row and seeing the lap bar from his seat completely up as well as the shock and terror in the other riders eyes as they witness it happening.

Absolutely bizarre, and so many factors/unanswered questions for how this played out; hoping investigation yields light fast, especially if it was a mechanical failure on the harness.

I wonder the knock-on effects this is going to have on all B&M clamshells across the globe. They’re already very restrictive when it comes to guest dimensions, I can imagine it’s about to get worse.

IMO I just looked at the ORP and it looks like it is not in fact open, but with only one click put in place. This is just my angle of view and how I am looking at it.

Why shouldn't he have been on the ride?

It's definitely open.

I was shocked to hear this news. This is a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to the family of this man. I hope they find out exactly what happened. Up until now, B&M has never had a restraint failure. From what I understand, there are redundancies in place in case one lock fails. I seriously hope that there was some other issue. I've always felt safe on their hypers and gigas.

This is terrible news, and my thoughts go to the riders family, the other riders on the train as well as the staff members working on the ride at the time.

I’ve not ridden an B&M hyper, but I’m assuming the clamshell restraints are using a ratchet lock system, this lock system can by nature pop up by one if the restraint is forced down to tightly on the rider.

For context I had a friend recently go to Europa Park, who was unable to ride Silver Star as the restraint needed three clicks, and was only able to get two. If the rider restraint was forced down to the minimum, say one click, and the ride sensors cleared it for dispatch at the one click, then I think that goes down to operational/maintenance negligence instead of a B&M mechanical failure itself.
