These are a new design of 3x2 cars made specifically for Disney, emulating the newer-generation trains. Villains Land at Magic Kingdom is also poised to use this.

The text on the clearance envelope is “能力越大,责任越大,速度越快,测试越慢”, which in English means “With great power comes great responsibility, with great speed comes slow testing” 😭

Why is Disney so obsessed with using these spider bots in every Spider-Man attraction they make. There's so much more they could do with the character and his villains and everything just boils down to "generic spider bot enemies". Looks like it'll be a fun coaster but there's just so much missed potential theming wise based on what I've seen.

I believe it's something to do with licensing, because the spider bots are a Disney property but most of the rest of spiderman belongs to Sony? I don't know all the details, but I heard it's something along the lines of that.

As far as I know Sony only owns the movie rights, Disney still owns all the characters and stuff but I could definitely see Disney not wanting to or being unable to use stuff from the Sony owned movies, thus using their spider-bots. I didn't think about that before, but that would make a lot of sense.

Sony only owns the film and live-action television rights to Spider-Man. Everything else is already owned by Disney.

They can use other Spider-Man characters for theme park attractions if they wanted to since we’ve already seen Doc Ock on artwork for the Tower of Terror variant coming to Hong Kong:

That's actually such a cool use of the IP. A Spider-Man drop tower ride is actually genius. Gwen Stacy simulator is going to go crazy.
