    A Trip to the Theatre

I think Disney would have loved to have a musical "from the writer of Wicked" on Broadway but I think in the end it was unviable and, sadly, the stage version doesn't quite work - unable to go as dark as it needs to, but without having the kids appeal of Lion King and Aladdin.

Google Runs Google Home Dark Ride At CES

The ride looks fine, but the station looks like the sperm sequence from Woody Allen's Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex*

It looks like it's been painted to be as anonymous as possible, to try and blend in with the trees and sky around it.

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

But wouldn't Pleasure Beach complain? I know all's fair in business and all but I would think BPB after years of promoting and investing in the town would prefer something that doesn't much overlap with what they do.

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

Chariots of the Gods was a big thing in the 70s (like Blackpool!) in which the author Erik Von Daniken declared alien civilizations had built the pyramids, aztec cities, Atlantis, etc. All bunkum, of course, but people believed it at the time and for a brief period a few years back there was an...

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

The concept art leaked yesterday was the whole Central car park to the prom and incorporated SeaLife and Madame Tussauds. The artwork released today shows those intact, still with the dividing road between the Merlin stuff and "Central Market" so the only things being knocked down are the police...

Blackpool Council claiming it's "the world’s first multimedia exhibition exploring extraterrestrial influences following on from the Chariots of the Gods theme" when it's not even the first one in Blackpool!

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

There's at least one coaster in the artwork and promo video. https://www.wave965.com/news/local/300m-grand-plan-for-blackpool-unveiled/ There's also a roller-coaster restaurant, if you can contain your excitement.

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

The artwork is clearly on the Prom - this building replaces the SeaLife and Madame Tussauds one. And from the North East corner it is just about 100m to the Blackpool Tower building. The only thing I can see wrong is they've put "South" instead of "North" for the pier.

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

Well, technically, they're not. And is that development actually going ahead? Was being a bit facetious, but was actually thinking of a multi-use leisure mall, with slot machines in one area, SeaLife in another, a bowling alley, Lego Discovery Centre?, bars, etc - which is what those plans...

Blackpool Central Leisure Development- Announcement Imminent

Hmm, I'm not sure Blackpool needs more building at the moment - especially if they lose a car park in the process. But my guess would be fancy coin-op arcade with an IMAX screen.

Genting SkyWorlds | Malaysia | Theme Park

There may be even more to it than that. James Murdoch seems to have decided (once his company had made the deal) that Fox should make their own theme parks, not licence out the Fox name for uses they have no control over. Apparently this would be "inconsistent with plans for the Fox brand...

    The Maccy D's Thread.

I'm fairly sure UK fries have always been made the same way, it was the US recipe that changed in 1990. It was to make them vegetarian-friendly but it turned out they're still using beef flavouring anyway.

Kent, England | The London Resort | Entertainment Complex

A nice thought but none of these chancers have theme park experience so where are they going to recruit from and what are they going to look at for inspiration about what works in the UK? If on the extreme chance something happens here it will be crappy hotels, fast food outlets and half-assed...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

Having rewatched the BBC News report (on iPlayer here until 6.30pm UK time tonight, 7 minutes in) they compare 1 months drop of rail visitors against the whole summer's drop in visitors. I see the Gazette does a similar job of cherry-picking but if that bus replacement rail drop continued all...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

The BBC TV News report directly quoted Pleasure Beach as blaming the trains for a fall in numbers, so they’ve definitely had a drop. According to the same report the only Blackpool attraction to see a rise in visitors was the zoo, which is up thanks to the new elephant house and baby animals.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

It's been confirmed today that Blackpool had 400,000 fewer visitors this year than last (mostly day trippers). BPB and Blackpool Council have blamed the train chaos, but that can't be the only reason.

Pleasure Beach season pass sale for 2019

I bought a 2018 one this time last year for £100 but I've been so busy I've only used it once! Dunno whether to renew on the cheap and go crazy in 2019 or give it all up as a bad job (I do hope to go this week)
