Halloween and spooky season; what are your thoughts?

I love the Halloween season! Actually, haunted houses were right up there with roller coasters as a passion of mine, especially when I lived near the Detroit area and the haunted house per capita ratio was incredibly high! It's not as prevalent here in Montreal, so it has kind of died down a bit...

    "Now Showing"

Transformers One- Uh I don't know anything about the Transformers world at all plus I had day drinks during the day before seeing it so I feel like I couldn't focus. Seemed okay and my kiddo liked it. Terrifier 3- Ha! Some parts were just absolutely ridiculous but it was so entertaining. I love...

    The Book Thread

The Last Doctor- Was a good book, not written in a super sophisticated fashion, but had some really touching and also candid stories of patients the doctor performed assisted suicide on. From Here To Eternity- Another one not written in a sophisticated way but it was a good glimpse into death...

    Your 2024 in Review

La Ronde x 3 Six Flags Great escape x 3 Cedar Point x 1 New creds: TT2, Bobcat, Marche du Mille Pattes, Super Manege, Ednor Yep that's it this year 🤣 it was kind of garbage but my kid needs like, a 3 inch growth spurt for me to have incentive to go anywhere else right now! I'm hoping for a...

    The Book Thread

Finished Carnie King. The history of the Conklin Carnivals from the time of Patty Conklin's parents in the late 1880s all the wslay through to the present day was pretty all-encompassing and impressive, but I found a lot of the book a bit dry at times. Pulled out some interesting pieces but I...

Are you a doer or a relaxer on holiday?

If we're talking the all-inclusive holiday thing, I'm usually a doer. If I spend a week at a resort, I usually want to be doing an excursion or activity for two or three of those days and I like to participate in the games that the entertainment staff put on. I am also absolutely not much of a...

    Cedar Point | Siren's Curse | Vekoma Tilt Coaster | 2025

I mean, I guess they could argue that the park is surrounded by a Great Lake, but I do admit the colour choice is a bit weird for something that is meant to be sort of water themed. Maybe a light blue would have been okay, but it's next to Millennium Force which is also blue, and Gatekeeper is...

    "Now Showing"

Beetlejuice- I had never seen the original so I watched it before we went to see the new one. I feel like it's one of those movies people will just like because they watched it as a kid. I wasn't a huge fan, and I usually like Tim Burton stuff. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice- It was okay but still not...

Sorry For Not Loving Steel Vengeance

I can see why people don't love Steel Vengeance as much as other people do. Thigh-bruising airtime isn't for everyone, and it certainly delivers on that in the back half. I personally love it, but after two back-to-back night rides without getting off the train, I'd had enough. I couldn't...

Sensors of all shapes and sizes on coasters always this shade of green, why?

I have nothing to add besides I drank some whisky and thought the title of this thread was "seniors of all shapes and sizes on coasters." I was awfully disappointed to see it was about sensors, not old peaches riding rides.

What have you learned in your years as an enthusiast?

Can't judge a coaster from a POV- I think this is pretty obvious, but back in the day I would go in with judgments about a ride before I'd even gone on it, only to realize the reality versus what I anticipated were two completely different things, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the...

Six Flags Great America | Wrath of Rakshasa | B&M Dive Coaster | 2025

Like I say for every B&M with the exception of Fury, it looks fun and nothing more. I'll never begrudge a park for investing in one because they are people eaters and crowd pleasers, but we all know what they ride like and at the risk of sounding like an entitled enthusiast, I'm a bit bored of...

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Parks Panel | 10/08/24

Very impressed! Kind of awesome to see my two favourite Pixar films getting the rides they deserve! Villains Land is also hopefully going to be an awesome addition. I feel like maybe I missed something here, but if Universal has a Spiderman ride, how is Disney getting a Spiderman ride? This is...

    "Now Showing"

Longlegs I liked the film, it kept me entertained, but it wasn't this amazing movie like everyone made it out to be. I'd have liked it more if there was less hype around it and people weren't saying it was like Silence of the Lambs. That being said yeah, it was good, Nic Cage was good, the end...

    Canada's Wonderland | Alpenfury | Premier Rides Launch Coaster | 2025

It's something different for Wonderland, and therefore I'm happy! As much as I like a good B&M, you kinda always know what you're gonna get and so I didn't wanna see another one in there. It's a tad inversion heavy for my taste but the rolls look fun and not too intense like say, tight vertical...

    The Book Thread

Seabiscuit- Loved it. Sometimes there were a lot of names to keep track of, of horses and people, but I thought the way the book was written was really good with how they told the stories of each individual main character, and then how their lives converged. The ending got my emotional, too, and...

Where is your local park and how often do you visit?

When I'm in Montreal, it's La Ronde, which is 20 minutes by car and about 45 minutes by public transportation. I have been here two years now and have only gone twice, and both visits were this year. Great Escape is just shy of three hours and we go there more often. When I am "home" at my home...

What is your favourite coaster that you’ve only ridden once?

Eejanaika! It's my number one. I'd be worried to ride it again and it drop in rankings, but the first time I rode it I had no idea what to expect and it blew me out of the water.

Cedar Point to close Snake River Falls

That thing looks like a rust bucket now, and I think we all knew it was on borrowed time. It's still an iconic ride in that area of the park, but I'll take a new ride over something I barely ever rode for reasons pertaining to vanity, even though it was quite fun 😂.

    The Games We Play

My most recent games played: Super Mario Deluxe- Awesome, and probably the best Switch game I have played so far. I am a huge fan of the traditional platform games, and this paid great homage to the classic Mario. Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe- It's crap. I was super into RCT2 when it was out...
