What's new

Ben Ten Alien Thing - Junior Boomerang, DMP

^Compared to many 4D attractions Happy Feet was actually rather bad, the 3D park just did not work. It did make me want to see the film though.

^Haha, I was being sarcastic Marc  The whole Happy Feet thing has been an ongoing joke between me and Gavin since the Live. When we were watching it, we both kept looking at eachother and facepalming.

I don't really have any desire to try out any other 4D cinemas...

I am glad I'm not alone in this. At least the Spongebob film at FL was good, but Happy Feet was a bit of a joke

Maybe thats why I like HISTA so much.

If anyone has seen the videos on TPR you will know that they are getting a Junior Boomerang, there are no pictures yet.

God knows what a Junior Boomerang is going to be like, Vekoma don't even advertise them on their website. So am I right in believing this is the first of it's kind? Maybe even, a world's first?!! WOW!!

I'm intreguied as to how this will be done, a Boomerang with no inversions?

^Maybe a steeply banked turn (like a large version of the turns found on Maurer spinners) instead of a cobra and an airtime hill instead of a loop? Just a stab in the dark.

Look what I found on a random trip to Drayton carpark!!

Using logic, this won't be the new Thomas Land ride, so must be the coaster!

It all seems to make sense too, Ben 10 on his superhero pose (does he have a skateboard too?!) would seem to support any halfpipe 'coaster' rumours. Looking on the positive side, at least there's a 'theme' which should help pull the families, albeit slightly strange to add another kids TV theme - they'll have to rename the park CBBC Manor soon!

Still, interesting stuff, looking forward to seeing what materialises.

The sombreros are now in the field behind the Buffalo in pieces, along with the spokes of the big wheel (pic below).. Could this mean the wheel is moving? The wheel's A frame support is still in place, so it could just be down for winter maintenance.

Dan

Eurgh, more kids TV themed rides. Oh well, it'll probably have lost its theme by the time I next bother going to Drayton.

I cant find any info on this junior Boomerang (alright, I've only checked Vekoma's website. but still...)

And I'm not exactly jumping for joy over the theme. Various commercial themes can be ok in a big park, but Drayton is just so small, and feels so crammed already, let alone having these vulgar constrasting theme's everywhere.

yeah they wont release any info about it.

Dear Tom,

Thank you for your follow up. We have indeed announced the new concept – Junior Boomerang - for Drayton Manor.

Both internally at Vekoma as well as with Drayton Manor, we have however agreed that no details/specs will be released till after the first installation will be open to the public.

We trust for your understanding and patience.

Kind regards,

Has anybody else got the feeling it will be like tower bit, station, a helix, into another helix into the tower bit again. Then same again backwards?

^That's what I'm seeing yeah - shallower "towers" to about 30 feet and trains similar to the ones they use on their Roller Skater coasters:

Ben 10 :(

It's like a rubbish version of Pokemon..... IN SPACE!

Oh, and Mr Fry CLEARLY gets to count it as 10 credits! :p

At least the theory that Drayton are only allowed to have/will only have 4 creds at once will FINALLY be put to rest! <3.
