I think I'll indulge in a few Christmassy topics today!

What's your favourite of the three Christmassy days?

Do you love Christmas Eve the best? The anticipation, the cheerful atmosphere and the prospect of meeting a few long-time-no-see mates at the pub later on?

Then there's Christmas Day. Presents, food, family, indulgence, Queen's Speech, more food, booze, dozing off for an hour after dinner, more booze etc.

Finally, Boxing Day. The day when you may visit the less important relatives or just sit at home doing **** all, balling up all the socks you received the day before. And of course, knowing it's all over for another year!

(I realise that some countries don't have a Boxing Day, if not, just call it "the day after Christmas Day".)

So what's your favourite Christmassy day?

So I take it the UK doesn't have boxing day sales to distract people from their sock balling?

^ Oh yeah, I forgot about the sales. I usually avoid them but I have to hit them this year! It's my idea of hell tbh, especially when there's plenty of sock balling to be done!

How rude of me not to answer the question.

Christmas eve is kind of boring so that one is out, hence me being on CF doing +1 posts

But I'll say Christmas Day, I do like food and pressies and family time....Too bad the weather isn't sunny this year though.

Boxing day is a close second though because I get paid double time and a half.

Christmas Eve is never really anything special in our house. Apart from my Dad's traditional Gin&Tonic when he gets back from work at about 3pm, we don't really do anything. So I don't think I could really say Christmas Eve.

As for the day itself, well, it's just packed with what I love about Christmas. Gifts, family, food, booze, atmosphere.

Boxing Day is, like Ian said, always a bit... well... lame to be honest. Apart from the sales, which are AWFUL even if you can get good deals, there's nothing to Boxing Day really.

So for me it's Christmas Day.

Christmas eve is kinda ruches with all the last minute presents getting wrapped and ****.

Christmas day is frill with all the OMFG PRESENTS and excitement from santa!

Boxing day is kinda boring lyk.

I so prefer Boxing Day. Usually because it's a double pay working day and I go to my cousins and get pissed. This year is extra special because I have a little 3rd gen cousin.

Boxing Day. Something normally happens thats not in the slightest productive, but amusing.

Christmas can bugger off this year.

Christams Day is always such a disappointment, what with there being around 2 months of build up to it.

Boxing day is great. For me, all the family are still around, there's loads of food still to be eaten, and there's lots of drinking, playing and laughing. And usually a football match to go and see in the afternoon.

Oh you miserable old humbugs!

Personally. I love Christmas. All 3 days thank you very much. In a world where so many seem miserable by default and need an excuse or reason to be happy, Christmas is a time to do just that. Be blooming happy; And why? Well why the hell not? Or would you rather just be a miserable old ghet... I also have the added this year that I have 4 days off in a row, which means I get 4 whole days with Marc, with no interruption. Something that only happens at Christmas or on Holiday. (Yes soppy, I know).

I love the build up to it all. Getting the tree out and decorating it whilst trying to teach the cats that it is not a toy and if they break one more of the expensive Disney baubles I will bury them in the snow that everyone is debating we might get on Christmas Day.

Going shopping and buying for other people is always a highlight. Don't get me wrong I love shopping for me but for other people is almost a treat. Wandering round the highstreet wondering what their faces will be like when they open them up. I have a knack for buying things that people don't necessarily 'want' or 'need' but the present suits them perfectly and they get a big smile. I get a buzz from that last minute rush too, when you have the eureka moment and know the perfect gift for someone.

Then onto Christmas Eve. Everything is ready. Anything forgotten can now stay forgotten. And relax, bung on the telly or a DVD and crack open a bevvy.

Waking up on Christmas day, bung on the kettle and spark up a tab (nod to Ian there). Check the weather outside, oooo shocker.... no snow. Lounge around laughing at the cats silly attempts to remove the now superglued tree decorations. Waiting impatiently for the rest of the family (or Marc) to wake up and go through the same routine. By 11.30 everything is at fever pitch ready for the presents. I always seem to be the last one opening stuff because I'm too busy dishing the presents out.

Getting the dinner on and me being slightly stressed about the timings of various veg and so on is oddly cool too. I actually thrive on the pressure and this year produced a bang on Christmas dinner. I normally hate my own cooking!

Then my parents arrive and its all go on the presents front again. Its great spacing them all out over the day. Normally we end up at a pub for a few jars and then we get back to have a shed load of totally unhealthy snacks, dip and games time. The PS3 was on overdrive this year and it is always hilarious watching my Mum play games for the one and only time of the year.

Boxing day is a true wind down day, like Ian says. Looking at your presents for the one millionth time without actually doing anything with them, besides balling up the socks. Cold turkey sandwiches and crap on the telly. Oh and more booze :)

Perhaps I am a sentimental, traditionalist old fool when it comes to Christmas but I totally love the spirit of the season and all that.

What he said basically.

Because of all the Christmassy stuff starting really early, I did not feel christmassy at all this year.

No matter how Christmassy I feel, Christmas day is always my favourite because of the presents, the food, the going to the pub and the first play of the presents.

I'm a Boxing Day kind of guy - I'm just glad it's all over by then!I'll agree with Ian too, the sales can be hell, theres a massive Next here in Hudds, and the queue to get in the carpark caused total chaos, nope, I'm better off out of it - and in the pub with the lads!

In Finland and Sweden, Christmas Eve is when everything happens, meal, presents, traditions. For me Christmas Day is mainly eat leftovers and relax day. Boxing Day is like, I'm getting bored of staying in doing nothing today, why is this even a holiday? and that's pretty much it.
