I personally think Griffon for the ride alone, But Oblivion has the best drop in the world in my opinion.

I've only ridden one, although judging by the others I'd be inclined to say Griffon. However, it will have to have a very fantastic atmosphere to beat Sheikra's. The placement of the structures and foliage is some of the best I've ever seen around a ride.

Griffon looks the best for layout. It seems to have a nice blend of drops and twistes (for a Dive Machine). However Oblivion is fantastic. The drop and tunnel are what really make this ride stand out. It's just a shame it's not got a good layout afterwards.

Oblivion. <img> scariest thing I've been on ever.

Really? I didn't think it was scary at all, in any way. Just a fun drop ride.
I can't even think of a coaster that I really found to be scary. (Although I did find two that looked intimidating..Yet was still able to ride both hands free my first rides)

Back on topic. Of the 4 listed I have been on 3. SheiKra, Griffon, and Oblivion. I really liked all 3, but I came off each wanting more out of the ride (more so with Griffon and SheiKra as they came later, Oblivion is fine the way it is as it was the first)

I voted Griffon just because its the tallest, and Dive Machines are really only about the first drop. Hanging way over the edge on the 10th seat without even track below you is kinda, amazing.

SheiKra is ****.

Griffon which is a fairly similar idea is likely to be equally ****.

It's between Oblivion and G5.

I'll say Oblivion.

Out of the ones I've been on, I'd have to say Oblivion :p

Griffon looks the sexiest though :D

Coming from the man who says Millennium Force is good.. ;)

Oops, you forgot one ;)

Probably Griffon, those wider trains look awesome. Vertical Coaster has a crap name, but it does have quite an interesting ground-hugging figure-of-eight after the water splash, so maybe that's next. They, along with SheiKra are pretty similar, so really any one of those, followed by Oblivion and then G5, which has an amazing location, just no hole.

I would have to say Sheikra, because it has the best scenery and theming of the four dive machines. It also brought the dive machine to America which is important.

Oh give MF a break, it's a fine ride.

Sam, you are being quite fanboy, though. Or maybe just jealous.. :)
You can't honestly say that Griffon and Sheikra are crap when they're more than twice as tall as your little Oblivion, they're longer, they're floorless, and they have inversions.

This isn't that great of a poll anyway, for this exact reason. It almost seems like the dive machines have more fans than any other type of ride, mostly based on regional affiliations. Brits like Oblivion because it's the only one most of them have ridden. Americans from Florida and others who have ridden Sheikra, but not Griffon, condemn the latter as an unoriginal copy of the former. Anyone who has ridden all three will pick either Griffon or Sheikra, usually Griffon.

But Griffon is simply the best. It's the biggest, the fastest, the longest, and has the extra inversion.

Taller, yes. But that makes no difference, it's the length of drop that matters, and that's only 20ft difference.

Longer, give you that.

Floorless makes no difference. Like, at all.

Inversions? Eh. Inversions suck. Especially when all Griffon can manage to do is repeat the same element.

Having said that, Sheikra IS better then Oblivion, just not by a substantial amount (Sheikra is my number 5, while Oblivion is my number 9).

And, I'd be willing to bet Sheikra is the best of the bunch. No, I'm not just voting for it "cause I've been on it", that wouldn't really make a lot of sense since I'll be riding Griffon in a few months. I think it's better because...

A. It's got extra elements that are missing on Griffon, such as the excellent post-Immelman helix.
B. The atmosphere and area are fantastic, and by almost everyone's reports, Griffon does not match this.
C. Blue coasters are foul, red ones aren't.

Plus, Mitch Hawker agrees with me, obviously meaning I'm right.

3 things Ben.

1. Floorless apparently does make a difference, coming from people that have ridden Sheikra before and after. And I can see how it does.. being that they are completely different experiences.. like a B&M sitdown to a floorless.. ;)

2. Blue is CLEARLY a sexy color, Griffon falls into that category.

3. If you are referring to Griffon being low in the MH, you have to remember it is a new coaster. You have to give these things time. I'm sure quite a few first year rides will shift up and down after more people ride them.

Oblivion has a better drop though.... much better. And that is, correct me if I'm wrong the ride's one and only unique feature? The theme fits brilliantly on Oblivion too. You get told you are going to die in the queue, glum music plays and you are warned as I said you may die. On Sheikra you get into the bright, cheerful station with catchy jungle music beating away and the announcer is saying about "Enjoying your ride on SheriKra guys!!". The theme doesn't fit at all.

Oblivion is miles better.

Floorless apparently does make a difference, coming from people that have ridden Sheikra before and after.

Funny, cause all I hear from people who did it before and after are things along the line of "no difference" and "a bit pointless". Things like that.

And I can see how it does.. being that they are completely different experiences.. like a B&M sitdown to a floorless..

Not really since there are two major differences between sit-down trains and DM trains...

A. DM trains are a lot more open anyway. IE., provide the viewing experience of a floorless.
B. On DM trains, your feet don't touch the floor anyway, providing the "sensations" of a floorless.

2. Blue is CLEARLY a sexy color, Griffon falls into that category.

Usually, it is. But for coasters it's just foul. Griffon's whole colour scheme (especially the God-awful trains) looks like it was chosen by a blind Sunday-school teacher. Bright red, bright yellow AND bright blue combined? Yeah, way to look like the special bus is in town. And then the supports look ugly with the colour of the track, it's all just bleh. And blue's not a striking colour. Griffon's huge, the colour should make it say "look at me, bitch". Red does this, black does this, blue makes it look considerably less striking. And you know what's even worse? That splash pool! Bright blue pool, it looks like a paddling pool.

If you are referring to Griffon being low in the MH, you have to remember it is a new coaster.

Lower. I'd hardly call 13th low. But, of course, you got the subtle, tongue-in-cheek joke there, about how this year the results were rather laughable and as such, I was not forming any sort of argument based on them. But, of course, you understood that, right?

I've only been on Oblivion and it is fantastic. However, IMO Griffon looks the best, the colour is amazing, it's so blue, but is'nt overpowering blue.

SheiKra looks really good too, but doesn't have the same "wow" effect that Griffon does.

But if Griffon had a tunnel, similar to SheiKra, it's be the icing on the cake.

Oh and Madhjsp, Griffon, and SkeiKra are nott double the height of Oblivion. Oblivon's drop is 180ft, so only 20-25ft in difference.

Obviously it's a close call between Griffon and SheiKra, but in a way, I'm slightly steering towards SheiKra now.

Griffon's area looks really plain to be honest. Now obviously I can't really judge it considering I haven't seen it, but I think that SheiKra's looks a little more interesting.

The extra seat on either side of Griffon's trains probably makes the drops even better, but I don't know by how much, so I'm not really going to compare those.

For now, I'd say SheiKra tbh. But only just.
