Theme park-wise, which year, in your opinion, was the best? In terms of ride openings, theme park openings, events, and anything else that you think is relevant.

2006 does it for me.

That year gave us El Toro, Eejanaika, Voyage, Stealth, Zaturn, two B&M Goliaths, Patriot, Tatsu, Speed, Speed Monster, Abismo, Expedition Everest, Black Mamba, Crystal Wing, Thunderbird, Kentucky Rumbler, 10 Rings, and a bunch of others.

I really like 1994, especially for the UK, with the opening of Nemesis, Big One and Shockwave.
Elsewhere, I think 2000 for me, Millennium Force, Son of Beast, Steel Dragon 2000, Bizarro, (Then SMroS) Boulder Dash, Goliath, (SFMM) Kraken, Katun, Medusa, Robin Hood.

In the UK, 2002 was Marmite year, with Colossis, Air and Jubilee Odyssey all opening.

Same could be said for 2006 really, with Kumali, Stealth and Speed: The ride.

Don't think I've been around long enough to really work this one out...

But I'd say 1994 for UK, don't think we'll ever surpass that culturally, especially with Nemesis and the nototious Big One!

2000 was a very exciting, optimistic year for the roller coaster industry.

Between Millennium Force, Son of Beast, and Stealth - there was a ton of innovation and forward thinking for coaster design:

- 300 ft. height limit
- 90+ mph limit
- looping wooden coaster
- first flying coaster
- first cable lift
- first magnetic brakes

1924 was an excellent year with some blindingly good new designs (including the first Fred Church 'Bobs' ride) based on the new upstop wheel technology.

1926 though saw the infamous Crystal Beach Cyclone open which pushed engineering and medics to the limit ;)

The entire period from 1921 - 1939 was a massive boom era though that started in the US and spread across the world as the depression sank in. In terms of technology advancement, envelope pushing and introduction of experts in the world of coaster engineering, only the 80's/90's new coaster boom comes close.

2001 had some major additions including this website:

Titan
Expedition GeForce
Nitro
Wildfire
Talon
Dodonpa
Colossos
