Munchkin, Monopoly, Risk, Apples to Apples, Balderdash, battleship, trivial pursuit, blockus, and taboo

I hate it when people agree to play a board game, and then don't take it seriously. Like, they'll go oh it's just a bit of fun! Yes, but when you're playing it WRONG it's no bloody fun at all!

This! If you aren't going to bother sticking by the rules or even playing it the right way then why bother at all? To me it's just a waste of time.

Personally, I adore board games. Growing up I always preferred to have a board game over an action figure. I still have two trunk loads of games at my parents house. I have lots of the 'old classics' and plenty of the newer stuff. Of the most recent ones my fave has to be The Logo Board Game. In a world full of commercialisation and product placement this game really tests how well you know the brands etc. is brilliant fun.

The next game I want to acquire is Scatagories (or however it is spelt). After playing in at New Years its a game I need to have in my collection. Brilliant fn and gets even more ridiculous with alcohol.

Yup, this annoys me too! Don't ruin the fun for those that are playing the game.

I have all my board games hoarded in my wardrobe, and it's so tempting to get them out again :p Favourites have to be Monopoly, Cluedo and Mouse Trap <3

^^ Scattergories is awesome.. definitely another one of my favorites.

Played Monopoly with 4 friends last night using real money at 1% values (so $1 = $0.01, $500 = $5, etc.). I lost $30, but I had fun & it was a pretty cool experience to have real money actually changing hands instead of play money. And since it's no more expensive than your average relaxed poker night, I'd definitely be down to do it again.

I'm not a huge board game fan, but I enjoy the odd game here and there.

Most of the stuff I end up playing these days tends to be more obscure, stuff like Zombies or Robo Rally. I also ended up playing a ridiculously long game of The Business Game (otherwise known as Mine a Million) with a bunch of friends on New Years day a few years back - the game must have lasted around 8 hours or so, due to everyone constantly backstabbing each other. Not something I'm in a hurry to replay, but fun nonetheless.

I'm more of a pen and paper RPG player these days to be honest. I'm currently involved in a game of Orpheus, which involves Chris H and a few others. I'm not a big fan of rules heavy systems (like D&D) though when it comes to RPGs - I prefer something simple, flexible and fairly rules light. RPGs are supposed to be more about story than game mechanics.

I played Robo Rally when it was first released. I use to attend "Beer and Pretzels" in Burton every year and was good friends with the guys who ran it (Spirit Games). Used to also go to Burton each week on a Tuesday night to play board games/RPGs in the pub and then get wasted afterwards - Wednesdays never happened for me at Uni

Not done anything like that though since 1996 or so and I gave away all my RPG books in 2001 (An absolute ton of White Wolf books - pretty much every Werewolf source book and adventure, plus a load of Vampire and Wraith books too - then another shed load of Call of Cthulhu books).

I did keep Battle Tech though. It's my favourite table top strategy game and I play it with Minor_Furie every so often.

Not board games though
