Defunct rides that you missed the most

Thunder Looper Alton Towers,

Corkscrew Alton Towers,

Black Hole Alton Towers,

Tower Of Terror Camelot,

Venom Camelot,

Pirate Ship Pleasure Beach Blackpool,

Old Excalibur Camelot.

Until fairly recently I would have gone along with the Black Hole/New Beast idea as well. I used to really like both of them back in the early '90s, Beast especially because of the whole "Holy **** there's no seatbelt!" aspect.

However, I've ridden similar models since, and they are in fact pretty crap. That doesn't alter the fact that I used to love them. It just means that I don't "miss" them, as if they were still around I'd probably detest them by now. I've got great memories of them, and I'm actually glad they're gone so that doesn't change.

I have similar feelings towards Rhyl Ocean Beach. I've got fantastic childhood memories of it, but it was actually a serious dump, at least towards the end of its life, so I don't in any way miss it. I'd rather have the pleasant memories I have than have them obliterated by that place somehow managing to cling on even longer.

To answer the question, I'm not sure really. I LOVED Magnum Force, but completely agree with Flamingoland's decision to get rid of it, even if I would love to ride it again.

I wish Back the the Future stayed. IOA could've had a Springfield themed island for their Simpsons ride.

I used to love Ocean Beach, went there every year on my holidays. The Jetstream was the first coaster I ever rode, and the Water Chute was a classic! I hadn't been since 1996 though so thankfully never witnessed the decline first hand, it would have destroyed me. I have very fond, happy memories of that place and Rhyl in general.

Thunder Looper Alton Towers. The area is just not the same without it.

Better than the above two, massively better than "The Blade", but still not actually that good a ride. I think compared to modern coasters, it would feel a bit lame today. I don't know though, I still like Boomerangs

What? No... The Schwarz Shuttle Loops are AWESOME rides, so much better than Boomerangs... If Thunder Looper was still at Alton, it'd be my third favourite coaster in the park (assuming it's as fab as Knott's... the best thing at that park!)

That's not saying much as Alton only has two good coasters (okay, our two good coasters vary here Ben, but... ).

I have to say that I do kind of miss Venom at Camelot, as mentioned somewhere above, just for the sheer amazing queue and darkness of the ride. Then again, I don't bother with Camelot anymore...

^^I have to say I agree, Montezooma's Revenge is better than any Boomerang I've been on.

And on the topic the only one I have ridden I think is Corkscrew and I wouldn't say I miss it. It was good, but it needed to be replaced.

This doesn't deserve a new topic, and is kinda relevant to this discussion...

This guy went on a 2 week long motorbike trek across the states to re-ride a coaster from his childhood.

So, rather than just mourning the relocation of your "most missed" coaster, how far would you actually travel to have one more ride? Has anyone been over to Mexico for another go on Thunder Looper, for example?

^Yes, and I was incredibly disappointed when I got there and realised that it's actually in Brazil.

^^Yes, I know. I found that out during a goon conversation with Jake yesterday. I'm a 'tard.

Is there a POV of it? Wasn't that the boat ride where Inferno is now?
Urm. I spent quite a bit of time at Grove Land when I was younger. And thats all shut down now I think. I was one of the first people to ride the new coaster there and I cut my leg on the car so they had to shut it for ages until they put foam round the edges of the car. :p

there is a pov and it was where NI is now.

Justin you didnt get GASM? I thought Great Adventure was your home park. I got it in '09. It was god awful and bumpy (like all Arrow multi-loopers), but it is a part of history and a worthy CRED
