Disneyland paris questions

I found Space Mountain amazing. I didn't find it rough at all either which may be due to height/size.
I just love the coaster. Great soundtrack, awesome layout, cool effects and it's just great fun. I don't see anything wrong at all with it although I've only ridden it three times.

And I found Big Thunder Mountain pretty lame and boring actually Erol.

^Ollie posted something making sense :p

The sound seems to be working on all trains now (so Gavin you probably went before they were fixed/turned up). I also find that it's only 'rough' if you sit incorrectly. If you brace yourself correctly it's fun and forceful. Love it.

Name me one coaster in Europe which utilises effects and theming of Space Mountains calibre outside of Disneyland?

I'll be the first to admit that I have very little European park experience, but just because Space Mountain's effects are the best of a bad bunch still doesn't mean it's any good. For Disney, it's very poor.

Absolutely. People should have to know to sit correctly, whatever "correctly" means, in order to enjoy themselves on a coaster. Maybe the ride ops should demonstrate the "correct" bracing position before they dispatch the trains, just like they do on planes.

I can not brace myself :( as Mark saw.

I can not get the restraint down the 1 extra click that I need by a tiny amount. This results in me leaving the seat on every single inverstion, banging my head on the restraint.

Its just not a a nice experience.

If the coaster had a good layout and good theming I would at least enjoy a part of it. But the layout is bland and the theming is cheap and poor well below Disney standards. I prefered Mission 1's theming tbh. Just because it is the only Space Mountain to invert does not make it the best.

I dont find the theming good, but then again I have done the ones in the USA.

People used to slag of the Corkscrew at Alton for being rough etc, well so far every single ride I have had on Space Mountain has been a lot rougher.

For me as well as I have said a number of times BTM in Paris is the most boring one I have been on. It looks the best but just does not produce a good ride. Its just to slow apart from right at the end.

About the European coasters. Europa Park and Phantasia Land have better theming on their coasters than DLP.

^ I went on BTM this year and it's defo picked up its pace, especially during the night when its properly heated.

Stupid head :(

Will take your word for it, just like I had to with Baco. BTM is still better than Baco though :)

I agree with Ollie, but I love the ride because it's a brilliantly fun way of presenting a kiddy dark ride. It could have just been a poor powered car through some scenery, but they made it into a fun little kiddy coaster instead.

It's a great kids ride, one of the best!

And seeing the BTM is ****, you can see where I am going with this hehe.

So need to get you to Orlando.

Well - there's rnrc just a mile or 2 away,

and then there's euro mir in europa park (that lift hill....) and euro sat

temple of the night hawk in phantasialand

the old black hole (sniff) at alton

Space invader 2?

http://www.rcdb.com/857.htm

also - not coasters - but several ghost trains, madhouses, trauma towers and other dark rides....

^ Yer, but not to the same standard, and even SM2 was knocked out in a rush. Hell, its the same ride, but with a longer launch, more stars and an explosion.

Sorry Erol but have you been to Europa or Phantasialand?

Mission 1 was better in my view. I enjoyed Mission 1 but not Mission 2. I remember Tim telling us that the Disney Imaginers had very little to do with Mission2 and its got the theming they never wanted.

I did not even notice that the launch was longer tbh, plus I am sure the coaster is not the same. I am probably wrong though.

God it sounds like I am picking on you and I am really not.

Plus I am sure when we rode Mission 2 the theming was not in sync, I did not even notice the explosion.

For me its the worst Disney coaster.

Well shows how people have varied opinions on Space Mountain. For me its the best Disney Coaster.

^for me the best ones are in California.

Space Mountain DLP would be a lot better if it was not so rough, like Mission 1, and they get the theming working ok. But Peep was saying the sound all works now.

@peep,

Just a quick question, you were saying that france has kind of a random day off during the week that me and the gf are taking on DLP, you wouldnt happen to know on what day/date this is actually happening would you?

And i might aswell add to the whole *cough*argument*cough* about SM:2 when i went a while back, atually just after the upgrade was completed i felt the "re-hab" did some good. But then again that is just my opinion and i will report back after my trip to see if im still in the same mind set as i was back then

And just a side note in the conversation about Space Mountain.

You shouldn't have to know how to "ride it" and to "brace yourself" in order to enjoy the ride. It is like when people say you have to ensure you ride it at the right time of year and right time of day (to ensure temperature) on the 2nd row back on the right hand side in order to get a good ride.

You shouldn't have to do anything at all, besides get in, follow the instructions and enjoy it. For Marc, and I saw this first hand.. on more then attempt, the restraint was just not coming down low enough meaning that throughout the ride he was just rolling around within the restraint, banging his head and so on. Weird really, as he is normally ok on Vekoma coasters. It is very hard to brace yourself when you are being chucked around at high speeds.

Having now ridden 3 of the Space Mountains I will say this. I agree with a huge amount of Disney Enthusiasts. California is still, by far, the best of the Space Mountains and Paris, is by far, the worst. Many go so far as to say that it isn't even a true Space Mountain because of how radically different it is from any of the others. Normally this would be a good thing, but in terms of comparisons I can totally see where the disney Enthusiasts are coming from.

You seriosuly need to get out to Cali
California Screamin'. Simply the best coaster Disney have ever created. Without a doubt in my mind.
Matterhorn Bobsleds. Easily a better coastr then DLPs Space Mountain.
Geez even BTM at Cali is better then DLPs Space Mountain.

Personaly, I really liked DLRP - prefering it to WDW in Orlando.

Casey Jr is a nice kiddy coaster, and indy is nowhere near as bad as some people say. And fantasyland is a great themed area.
The studios also have some good highlights, although it's not quite a "complete" park.

However -SM was dire, and BTM was quite disappointing after all the hype I'd heard about it - nowhere near as good as colorado express.

Wednesday, as far as I remember. They go to school on a Saturday instead.

I agree with you, but that area in California blows Paris away in my view.
