What's new

Djurs Sommerland | T-Rex Family Coaster | Mack Powered Coaster | 2022

I just want to clarify, that the planning approval you speak of were never meant to be taken as a literal 5-year plan for the park. It’s more of a “if they want to do this, they now can” sort of thing. And so, everything in there should be taken with a pinch of salt. For instance, according to the documents, the park should have gotten a drop tower in 2019, but instead they got the Intamin Gyro Swing. The documents also mention a steel coaster with a height of 30-35 meters for 2020, but that certainly didn’t happen either.

Was their 5 year plan posted anywhere? This is the first time I've heard about it!
Its never been official from the park. In 2017, Djurs Sommerland applied to the Municipality for a supplement to the approval for the expansion of the amusement park in the period 2019-2023. These papers are online.

Yes, this is an important nuance to consider. Its a framework plan where installations not are to exceed the noise tresholds and stay within enviromental demands.
But some of the planning where pretty specific or within the framework. So hopefully a woody is still on the drawing board

I'm a bit curious about what led Djurs to pick a different manufacturer this time. Was Intamin never considered because the park already decided on a ride type the Liechtenstein guys do not provide?

Djurs literally ressurected Intamin's Suspended Coaster model after a 14 year hiatus even though Vekoma offered a reliable, proven design alternative. Maybe Mack's e-powered offering make that much more sense from a business standpoint..

I am sure Djurs is really aware of the capabilities of each manufacturer. If you want an intense coaster (even a family one), you go to Intamin. If you want a quality powered product, you go to Mack (or even Zamperla).

Maybe the costs associated with developing a prototype didn't justify Djurs sticking to Intamin when Mack has already a tried and tested model. I, for once, am not really impressed by this addition, but I am sure Djurs will pull it off nicely.

It's not a "different" manufacturer anyway, they have Skatteøen.

I think it will look a lot better when the plants have settled in. I think it looks a bit un-inspiring in comparison to the editions they've had over the past few years, but it's a great looking family coaster so should tick the box for younger guests - and who doesn't love dinosaurs.

Unofficial YT POV of the coaster.. as mentioned above, not sure why they didn't go the extra mile on getting the theming up to par. Several bare or sparse areas / outlook points. Overall good addition for attendence and spreading crowds.
