The only worthy successor would be another S&S launch coaster but modern in my opinion, but I get why they'd not want to do that, S&S reliability is so bad.
At this point in time the station has been put into the ground. Chopping up the rest of the coaster should be a major operation, lasting the next six months. Fuji Q's been kind enough to communicate a schedule of what will be closed and when in order to accommodate demolition;
Wave Swinger, Teacups - October 1 - December 16
Sky Journey (suspended coaster) - October 18 - November 27, December 13 - March 14
Sky Cycle - October 18 - November 27
Red Tower - December 13 - March 14
Nagashimasuka (rapids ride) - January 8 - March 5
PaniClock - February 24 - March 20
I don't suspect many goons will be planning trips around these misses, but here they are. Have attached a quick visualization of where everything is around Do-Dodonpa;
I visited Fuji Q last week. Last went in 2017 and rode Do-Dodonpa with its new loop back then. I didn't realise but the park basically built Zokkon over the old park entranceway, and they've moved and updated a lot of the park as a whole.
They were actively cutting up dodonpa's launch track and tunnel and removing it by truck as I was there. Quite a depressing sight and reminded me of seeing The Ultimate's track cut up in pics online. Although Dodonpa was actually awesome.
Interestingly, there was Sansei Technologies signs on some of the demolition walls...
What's currently left is the large turnaround and the loop, and a little bit of the launch track. The entire station building is gone and tarmaced over.
I really hope the park installs something equally as crazy, as it feels like it's missing something, Zokkon is very underwhelming, too.
P.S. Also they were selling merch with Dodonpa still on which I thought was quite amusing considering its been closed for ages now.
I wonder what/if they will replace do-dodonpa with,
whatever it is must have hella acceleration, only hydraulic & air launch's can achieve a greater acceleration
so IF they replace it it must have an air-launch or hydraulic launch, or have some wizards (*cough* gerstlaurer *cough*) do some magic to give us a record breaking LSM launch
Keep the loop, get a B&M ball from somewhere, make it fit and a you've got a single carriage large Ferris wheel. Perfect capacity for that parks style and even has upcharge potential so really on point. Great views of Fuji too, I'd splurge on that.
At least keep the loop, its still relatively new - Google maps still features the spike.
