Energylandia's Future Additions

When does the park usually announce projects?
Energylandia tends to just build things man.

I honestly don't recall any of their announcements, but they're not exactly something I pay attention to to or anticipate.
Yeah, it feels like most things just pop up there 🤣
Looking back on previous construction feeds, they've announced past attractions such as Hyperion were coming on their social media pages (though not always clear on what that attraction will be at the time!).
Energylandia used to have some sort of press conference at the end of the season every year. This is where we always got more details of investments up until Abyssus, which is how this thread actually started, with the news of Zadra and Abyssus, although the links are now broken.

FOMO tends to kindly do reports for us, although I haven't seen one in the last couple of years, hopefully we get more info again this year at the press conference.

I honestly hate dive coasters and I really hope it’s a wing coaster instead. Out of the 3 dive coasters I have been on (Oblivion, Baron 1898 and Sheikra) none are good in any way, except for the drop on Oblivion. Baron and Sheikra both pull no forces, zero whip and are so tame. The trains are so big it feels like your moving around on a tractor and it’s borderline boring (compared to other coaster models) In fact, the one out of those 3 I never feel bored on is Oblivion, as it actually has a good drop with a tunnel and lots of g force, but other than that, please don’t build Dives! Wing Coasters a million times better!

I agree, I think wing coasters are actually so fun, I only have ridden gatekeeper and I thought it was super underrated! I just hope B&M figures out the rattle issue because if they do then I would loveeee to see a wing coaster here

I have done 3 Wing Coasters all of which have been very fun and so re-rideable due to the Wing Design. The iconic wing over drops are so good and give so much floater, and all of them tend to be very intense. If I was energylandia, I would say to B&M to make sure whatever coaster they’re building doesn’t rattle, and if it does we should get some of our money back!

I can kind of understand why they might have got cold feet on the tilt coaster. While the tilt mechanism is an amazing feature, the rest of the layout would feel quite similar to their other coasters (not that that's stopped them in the the past). A B&M, regardless of the model, will certainly offer a more unique experience... for better or worse.

If I were the one making the decisions, I'd shy away from a dive coaster. IMO they are just a bit played out at this point. I'm not sure what more you could really do to make it a unique standout attraction.

That said, I think there is still room with the wing coaster and flying coaster models for a 'world's best' version:

— None of the existing wing coasters truly go all-out on themeing (there's a couple in China that come close). So a large fully-themed wing coaster with lots of scenic near-misses and keyholes could be a contender for the world's best.

— Similarly, we haven't seen a B&M flyer with an aggressive layout outside of Asia. So if you combine the intensity of the Asian layouts with some themeing, I think you could have another easy contender for the world's best flyer.

That said, it's probably a dive 😐

I actually have a feeling that they're going to move away from theming their future coasters. Looking at Choco Chip Creek, they couldn't even finish the rockwork on their newest family coaster so theming a larger thrill coaster seems unlikely at this point. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I just feel like it could be another half-finished job again.

Very true! I forgot they couldn't even be bothered to finish the theming on that one

I suppose I assumed they'd carry forward the level of theming shown for the tilt coaster. But that concept art was actually released by Vekoma and (as far as I can tell) not directly connected to Energylandia. So who knows if that was ever even the plan to begin with.

If this is smooth I think a dive coaster would be a great addition to the park. Considering most of the gp at Energylandia have probably never ridden anything comparable and dives are gp crowd pleasers. Another Vekoma sit down could feel too close to Formula and Abyssus. Personally, I also wish for a good flyer or wing, we really lack those in Europe while I have an incredible dive coaster right outside my window (Valkyria).

On closer inspection of the recent construction images/videos, I'm fairly confident that we can rule out it being a Wing Coaster and possibly even a Dive Coaster. Looking at the width of that trench near Abyssus, it looks to be way too narrow for those coaster types. My guess is a Surf Coaster or a family-launch model like Penguin Trek.

If this is a B&M, the enthusiast in me is really hoping for a flyer akin to Flying Dinosaur or Starry sky ripper. Energylandia are one of the only parks in Europe I can imagine building something insane and really intense like that now.

However, I also think, could they be going with B&M because they don’t want something so intense, and don’t want something that feels too similar to Formula and Abyssus, hence backing out of the tilt. Maybe they need something that sits in between Abyssus which id put in the pretty tame category, and Zadra/Hyperion which are two of the most intense coasters of their types.

But then that makes me question why it would be a dive. It’d have to be a really large scale dive (250 feet+) for the first drop to feel any more intimidating than the first drops on both Hyperion and Zadra. With two coasters already topping 200 feet, both with near vertical drops, would a dive really add much to the line up? But then I guess we are talking about a park with more than one family boomerang… so perhaps this kind of logic isn’t applicable?

Maybe it’ll just be a large scale invert and they’ll pull out the standard SLC Mayan? I happily avoid it every time I visit.

Anyway, it coukd be anything at this point. But the scale of the layout and some of the footers really make me doubt it’s a family coaster. And to be honest, out of all the parks in the world I don’t think Energylandia need another family coaster anyway…
