Just thought i'd elaborate on my YES vote. I grew up in Stoke on Trent and so along with the underground raves that would happen at beach caves i also went to Entropy and after Kinetic for research purposes only. Ahem! I hate the bloody so called music!

Well, define a proper rave nowadays. Been to countless dj-gigs, clubbing some more or less mental, but it's not really raves as has been mentioned before. But, during the last year or so there has been many corridor and rooftop parties in my student area with all the dj gears, great dj's, strobo lights and what not. At times over 300 persons attended. The cops have come to told us to shut it down/ lower the music at least 8 times, which is a bit annoying considering only students live in the houses nearby, other than that, it's been really great.

I do have a sort of weird dream to like go to an old factory building etc. to an illegal rave. like in this photo (it's Hamburg) take a boat over to some deserted harbour hall, in the middle of the night and then arrive at a big space filled with extatic people with lasers and few rules, would be amazing, but oh well

Glad to see some fellow ravers on here. Been hitting the rave scene hard for years, and i can assure you the rave scene is still active globally - often with underground genres tho, e.g. dubstep was huge until 2004/5ish when brostep completely killed off its underground vibe and became the abomination we so often have blasted into our ears today.

If you don't like caning drugs, don't go to an illegal rave, is pretty much my experience of them. People with stolen medical canisters of NOS, dealers selling pretty much anything you want (varies by party... psytrance, acid/md, dnb generally ket/md). There's a fair bit of drugs in some particularly druggy clubs (cable some nighta, lakota in bristol for instance), but they still don't compare to an illegal rave. Lakota comes damn close though as it's generally ex illegal rave crews blasting out to an incredibly seedy audience.

Illegal raves are grotty, dirty, disgusting, and possibly the best experience ever. Where else can you cane a 10cm line of ket while out of it on MD then immediately wolf down a double balloon? Nowhere.

Rave culture isn't nearly as big in the States, so I haven't really had the opportunity. Been to several clubs though.

+1
