Favorite Defunct Roller Coaster

Dania Beach Hurricane :'( the last time I went to ride it (before it became SBNO) it was down for its one week of annual maintenance. I'd ridden it a bunch in the past but it sucks knowing that what was to be my last chance to ride it didnt even happen. :?

Looking over my ride list I'd say (along with DBH) King Solomon's Mines at Southport, Thunder Run at Kentucky Kingdom, Ozark Wildcat at Celebration City, Flyer Comet at Whalom Park, and Cyclone at Williams Grove

Oddly, all woodies. I guess looking at my defunct steel coasters, none seemed to mean anything to me. And the 2 or 3 that may qualify have been (or are being) rebuilt ((Speed the Ride in Vegas.... Great Adventures Chiller now in SA (but without its AMAZING zero-g-rolls))

While Dorney Park's Laser lives on in Mexico

It's actually a traveling coaster in Germany. Maybe you're thinking of The Bullet from Flamingoland, which is opening at Selva Magica in Mexico in 2014.

Or Zonga, or Magnum Force (they now have some different names). Mexico seems like a nursing home for old Schwartzkopf coasters.

PS: Does anybody know where the Euro-Star invert might be now?

^ never give up! Big Dipper is still sbno on the geauga lake property.

Disaster Transport because it was so darn fun :p

I guess I have a weird taste in roller coasters since everybody loved it and I hated it and didn't remember it. I bet with the lights it would be 100x better. Then again, I only rode it once and I think we just didn't like it because it was the WORST trip to Cedar Point ever, epically for me, since I wasn't allowed to ride a roller coaster over 150 feet and was sort of upset about that and having a bad day. That's why I'll always bring someone who loves coasters to parks with me. (I went with my aunt and uncle)

Back on topic, I just hated Disaster Transport, but It's the only defunct coaster I've ridden, so that. :(

As of this year it would be Odinekspressen at Tivoli Gardens and Tower of Terror II at Dreamworld Australia. One for being a nostalgic favorite and the other for being my only coaster over 300ft to this day.

Bob at Efteling, as it was my very first coaster ever when I was a mere 4 years old. Also shoutout to some random dude in the queue, who caught my dad's hat when he lost it during the ride :D

White Water Landing and Mill Race at Cedar Point.

Wasn't Mill Race replaced with Raptor in 1994, and White Water Landing with Maverick in 2007?

To add to this topic, I've ridden 4 defunct coasters: Vortex and Firehawk at King's Island, Georgia Cyclone at Six Flags Over Georgia, and Volcano at King's Dominion. My favorite of them was Volcano, certainly, although I did find it to be a bit underwhelming.

Lol this topic was dead for six and a half years, how do you dig up these old topics!?

Anyway, it's overwhelmingly the Wild Mouse for me. Southport Cyclone was a sad loss too.

It's nearly seven years since my original reply to this topic...
I'd love to have "one more go" on Bullet at FL and Scenic Railway at Margate.
...and since then I have managed to have one more go on Scenic Railway at Margate. The slowness and claustrophobic seating made me wish I didn't. Would've rather had my misty-eyed memories. I'm not saying it's terrible, it's just didn't feel as good as it did when I originally rode it.

Mine are Rampage @ Alabama Adventure
Unlike Big Dipper, shouldn't have given up on this one.

  1. Old Incredible Hulk (not confident this should be here, but I did prefer it to the newer iteration)
  2. Disaster Transport (the coaster equivalent of an 80s B movie <3)
  3. Volcano
  4. Dueling Dragons
  5. Shockwave, KD
  6. Vortex, KI
  7. Cannonball Run
  8. Firehawk
